If you haven't been having periods for around 2 years or so,you can expect wiggy things to happen!. You also will find it difficult to nail down an arrival date!. The trouble with the flow is related to that and your activity level, probably!. The second day is usually the heaviest flow, and it will taper off after that!. Sometimes if you get a really heavy flow, once the greatest majority of endometrial lining has been shed, the flow can nearly stop unless you are really up and active!. As far as soaking through a pad, that's usually a problem with the type of pad you are using and how often you are changing it!. Heavy flow first days call for a super, preferably with wings so it stays put, and a snugger fitted pair of undies to hold it a bit closer to the body!. Aside from that, sometimes overflow or leaks just happen dear!. Women usually learn pretty quickly to wear dark pants and old undies during their periods, just for that reason!. Leaks just happen, sometimes, no matter what you do!. You can carry a spare pair of undies in a bookbag, inside a makeup bag and a ziplock baggie, so you can have a fresh change if needed!. Otherwise, stick to dark pants on the first few days of your period!. It won't do any good to be fearful of this, it's one of those things in life you just have to do what you can for and be philosophical about the rest!. If you like, you can take Motrin during those first few days, as it will help calm the uterine muscles and slow the flow some!. Not perfect, but it helps some!. Otherwise, you are normal, and this is a normal complaint!. Find snugger undies, and heavier pads!. Look for an extra long, and possibly an overnight version for the really heavy days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

don't worry! this kind of stuff happens when you your body is beginning to get used to having periods!. it happened to me like that when i was your age and through high school!. if you don't want birth control that is fine!. they do use it to regulate periods for women though, and commonly used to help women with this issue!.

if you are afraid to ask specifically about birth control pills because of the stigma that can go along with it, just talk to your doctor about your period and see what he/she has to say!. your period will stabilize and become more routine as you get older!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, you won't have to worry about birth bills if you get on birth control pills!. Which I assume you meant!. You are not too young for them, just talk to your parents!. Then you can go to the doctor and they will help you out!.

Birth control pills don't always mean you're having sex!. In this case I think it would be a very good thing for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

first of all, calm down gurl!.!.!.
I got my period when I was 10 and im 13 now!.
my period skipped two months now and I'm okay i'm not pregnant or anything{i hope!!=)} and skipping two weeks is normal, it just means that you have irregular menstrual cycle, don't worry!.
But if your really concerned, maybe you should go to the doctor and get checked out if at all possible!.!.!.=)
good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know that the pill is out of the question!. Lots of girls use it to regulate periods!. You still wouldn't have sex until you were ready!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think that u might want to use tampons instead becuz u wouldnt have to worry about it going through ur pants and its easy cuz u only have 2 change it about once every 3 or 4 hours!!! hope i could help!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know your only 13, but sadly birth control seems to be your solution!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Stopping and starting within a few days isn't uncommon when your periods are first starting!.

You need to see a gynecologist - this is absolutely, totally normal - ALL women should see a gynecologist when they start having periods or shortly thereafter, simply because there are a lot of issues that women can have that only show up after puberty has begun!.

The other thing that you'll need to be able to tell the doctor is, HOW heavy is the bleeding!? They tend to measure bleeding by how many sanitary pads you go through in how many hours!. If you're going through a super or overnight pad in an hour, that's VERY heavy bleeding!. If you're using tampons, you'll need to let the doctor know how often you're having to change them in order not to bleed through!.

I very very highly recommend seeing your doctor - especially if you are bleeding heavily!. It doesn't mean you're sexually active (nor does being on birth control pills)!. There's a fairly common condition called endometriosis that can cause very heavy bleeding and bad cramps that is frequently controlled using birth control pills because they regulate your hormones!.

Endometriosis is something you want to catch early - it gets worse the longer it goes on!. If you let it go for years and years and years (like 20-30) it can kill you, but it will impair your ability to have children first!. My mother had endometriosis and horrible periods most of her life except when she was pregnant with her 3 children!. By the time she had it diagnosed (at 35) she had to have a radical hysterectomy and a partial colostomy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Sweetie, talk to your mom!. She has been there and if she feels like there is a problem she can take you to a gynecologist!. A doctor who specializes in female health!.

To help you out a little, you should always carry pads with you at all times!. It would be a good idea to keep a pack in your locker at school!. Change your pad every 2 to 3 hours like clock work!. And when you stop after 2 days, keep wearing a pad, this will help when you start back up!. Also talk to your mom about tampons!. Most likely she will say no, but it will be worth the shot!.

Once you turn 14 you can go to planned parenthood or family planning and get on the pill which will help, and you don't need your parents permission!. But since you are 13, if your mom takes you, you can get on the pill now!. Talk to her, I promise she won't laugh or think that your questions are stupid!. She has been there and I promise she hasn't forgotten what it is like to be 13!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
