I have known women who miscarried with an IUD, most of them would also expel the IUD as well!. It depends on the type you have!. A lot of conceptions occur, but not all make it past the first few weeks- and nobody really knows why!. We didn't even suspect it happened until blood and urine tests got so accurate and sensitive!. Beginnings are delicate times, and the embryo is extremely tiny- microscopic, actually!. If conception occurs, but implantation is not sucessful- or if something goes wrong- the body will simply trigger the cycle to start, and it will all pass out of the body along with the menstrual flow!. You won't be aware of anything, and won't be able to tell one way or the other unless you took a test and had a positive result!. On the other hand, you may have had conception, and no pregnancy progressed- so you could still have a negative as well!. If you have an IUD and experience heavy flows, clots and cramping- it may be due to your IUD!. Those are common enough complaints with their use, and the reason many women do not like them!. IUD's don't stop conception happening, they prevent implantation from happening!. That's done either though simply sweeping the embryo away from the endometrium, or keeping the endometrium slightly irritable so it rejects the embryo!. Some IUD's do have a hormonal coating that also helps the process!. But conception can still occur, as can implantation!. The risk of miscarriage is higher, obviously- in the earlier stages!. If you make it into the second trimester, then the pregnancy will usually go full term, and the IUD will deliver along with the baby!. They won't remove it before then, as there would be risk of triggering early labor or injuring the baby!. Since you are having some miserable periods, and your IUD may be to fault, it's time to revisit the gyn and consider other methods of birth control perhaps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am not sure about the IUD, but it is very possible and very common to have a miscarriage through your period!. The doctor will not do anything if you have not missed a period, or been late, or gotten a positive pregnancy test!. Once you miscarriage over 4 weeks, it becomes more serious!. That is when a woman will have to have a DNC!. Normally before that, the period flushes everything away!. This has happened to me twice!. I did get a positive test and started heavy bleeding with very bad cramps, went to the ER and they said I had no signs of miscarriage, but the doctor had already confirmed I was pregnant 2 days prior!. They sent me home!. Recently it happened before I got a positive, but I knew I was pregnant!. My cramps were horrible, the bleeding was very heavy, just like the first time!. Sometimes you can miscarry and never even know!.!.!.!.but I did both times!. Hope you feel better very soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
