Hey,

The depo works in a variety of ways!.

Firstly, it fools your body into thinking it's pregnant already, so it's less likely to release an egg!.

It also stops the lining of the womb becoming thick and spongey, so the egg has nothing to implant into even if it did get fertilised!.

And thirdly, it increases the thickness of the cervical mucus, so it limits the amount of sperm that actually get through the cervix!.

I am always opposed to things like the depo shot, because once you have it, it is in your system for a month - and you can't do anything about that!.
If you start having side effects, then you have to deal with these side effects for a whole month!
I reccomend trying the contraceptive patch!. This is what i use!.
It uses the same hormones and methods as the depo shot and contraceptive pill!. With the patch, you just stick it on your shoulderblade, bottom cheek or stomach and change it once a week!. I find it's better on the shoulderblade as it doesn't get caught on clothing as much here!.
It is VERY sticky, and will not come off no matter what you do!

ALL methods of contraceptions are completely safe, and have no adverse effects on our bodies which could be harmful, except for the increased risk of blood clotting if you have a family history of this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depo Provera (also known as DMPA or Depot Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) is a hormone injection that lasts for 3 months to prevent pregnancy!. Depo Provera stops the ovaries from releasing eggs so you will not have your period for three months!. Depo Provera causes the cervical mucus to thicken and changes the uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to enter or survive in the uterus!. Depo Provera is 97-99!.7% effective as birth control but it is a serious birth control and should follow up with your dr every 3 months!.
Disadvantages :
*Causes loss of bone density and risk of osteoporosis!.
*Does not protect against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS!.
*Requires injections every 3 months!.
*Delay of return to fertility!.
*Irregular bleeding!.
*Most women experience weight gain
The book Contraceptive Technology says: "It is not possible to discontinue Depo Provera immediately!. Weight gain, depression, breast tenderness, allergic reactions, and menstrual irregularities may continue until Depo Provera is cleared from a woman's body, about 6 to 8 months after her last injection!. After discontinuing Depo Provera, women may also have a 6 to 12 month delay in return of fertility
so before going on the pill or any other contraceptive let your reproductive system rest!. observe the regularity of your periods unless you have kids and you re not really thinking about having othersWww@Answer-Health@Com

apparently it stops calcium absorbing into your bones!.!. other than the obvious contraception stuff!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
