Answers:
Any time you take estrogen you are at a larger risk for developing blood clots, whether it be the pill or the patch!. The patch has a higher incidence for blood clots because it has a larger amount of estrogen in it!. I advise that you use a method with the least amount of estrogen in it (not too little though as that causes break through bleeding)!. There are no side effects from stopping the patch, you are just at risk for becoming pregnant again!. I recommend for my patients the NUVA RING!. It's an awesome method that many women enjoy!. Because the ring is absorbed vaginally through the vaginal mucosa the hormones is delivered straight to uterus, resulting in lower hormone levels such as estrogen!. When you take the pill or the patch, the hormones are delivered systemically, absorbed through the stomach lining, liver ect!., or topically through the skin, resulting in larger hormone amounts per day!. Depending on when you placed the last patch, when you remove it you will get a peiod like usual, then you should start the nuva ring seven days from when you removed the last ortho evra patch!. Hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
