Losing a lot of weight- how can I avoid loose and hanging skin?!

Question: Losing a lot of weight- how can I avoid loose and hanging skin!?
So I am changing my lifestyle, finally, and I have A LOT of weight to lose!. I plan to lose about 150 to 160 pounds- I don't really have a big time frame!. I want to do it the healthy way with proper food and exercise!. I started this week and have already lost 8 pounds so far (of course in reality since my weight is already so high that really isn't anything yet)!. Anyway I want to avoid the loose skin as much as possible!.!.!. is that even possible!?!?!? Or even if I lose it reasonably over the course of a year and a half or two will I still have the loose skin!? I drink plenty of water and am 26 y/o right now!. I am just about 300 pounds currently!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Kudos, kudos, kudos to you on taking this important step to remain healthy! I lost about 40+ pounds a few years back, and am at the goal weight now that you describe!. It's not easy, but especially at your age, the benefits will be spectacular! Don't be tempted to lose too much however!.!.!.

As to sagging skin:

A lot depends upon your age, and your skin itself!. When a woman is as young as you are, her skin is naturally much more elastic, and much more likely to shrink to the point that the sagging can really be tightened up with exercise!. However, losing 1/2 your body weight, as you are, may very well leave a little bit of looseness in your skin, particularly in your arms, and possibly in the belly region!. I have seen people with drastic weight loss such as yours have problems in mainly those two areas!. The good news is, although your weight is quite high for your body right now, you are not going to face the same problems that some individuals weighing 400 or 500 or more pounds will face, which is the very common skin "apron" that is left over in the abdomen area!. I have not seen anything too terrible on anyone going from the size you are at currently to about 150 pounds, especially at your age; that might be different for you of course, especially if you are very tiny height-wise; say 5' or so!. However, if you are of average stature, say 5'3" to 5'8" or so, I don't think you'll have much of a problem, certainly nothing requiring surgery!. A little sagging, maybe, but if you keep hydrated and keep your exercise up, that can be minimized!. Remember that a lot of people who are very very overweight and on those horrible documentaries, who do require surgery after weight loss, have this against them: their weight tends to prohibit a lot of movement!. And so muscle tone and skin elasticity and so forth inevitably suffers as a result!.

I like that you have decided to do this the way you have, through effort and proper diet!. I would be very pleased to follow your progress!. Good luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
