OK, sorry this is gross, but I really do need some advice please?!

Question: OK, sorry this is gross, but I really do need some advice please!?
Right, they think I've possibly got a slipped disc in my back, so I've been on a lot of codeine and tramadol for the last couple of weeks which makes me REALLY badly constipated!. I have a naturally high fibre diet anyway because I'm on a regular medication for a totally unrelated problem which causes constipation as a side effect!.

Anyway, I've been getting really constipated from the painkillers, so have been taking laxatives, but it seems like I can't get the right balance at all!. If I take a stimulant laxative like senna, I get really bad stomach cramps but when I try to pass the stool it's really hard and painful, so at times I've had to use glycerin suppositories!. So I thought I'd try a stool softener (Dulcoease) and within a few hours I've got really bad stomach cramps and diarrhoea!!

So what's best to take, when should I take it, and how much of it should I take!?!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Try taking the Ducolax twice a day, morning and eveing to start with, to get you clear!. Once things start moving, reduce the amount to once a day, to prevent getting diarrhea!.
With a high fiber diet and narcotics, especially codiene, you have to drink a great deal of extra fluids!.
Has the codeine worked for you!? If is does, great!. If not, there are other drugs that are not quite as constipating as codeine out there!. You may need to talk to you doctor about this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, I'm no expert but maybe there's a trick to the timing!? Maybe it would help if you took the suppositories or softeners with food, or at a certain time of day!?

Also, have you considered caffeine!? If you have a cup of coffee, this can help get your system moving!. Also, dairy products (not cheese!) can help!.

Good luck, and feel better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

try something like flaxseed oil capsules!.!.!.!.milk of magnesia works for many!.!.!.!.colace is milder than ducolax and is a stool softener, not a laxativeWww@Answer-Health@Com

ASK YOUR DOCTOR TO PUT YOU ON DICLOFENAC!.AS FAR AS I KNOW IT IS STRONGER THAN THE ONES YOU ARE ON AND DOES NOT CAUSE CONSTIPATION!.
OZ I IS WRONG AS CAFFEINE CAUSES CONSTIPATION!.THATS A WELL KNOWN FACT!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try making yourself some dandelion tea (just boil water with dandelions (i usually only use flower) and then strain it'll be easier getting the laxitives from different things that you can have over long periods of times!. Drink the tea at night and with meals, and have very small doses of stool softener perhaps half the reccomended amount (or less if you've already tried that)!.
I try to keep it natural and over long periods of time! ALSO chew lots of gum!. that has a laxetive effect too usually!Www@Answer-Health@Com
