Cyst on ovary?!

Question: Cyst on ovary!?
I was in the process of being an egg donor!. They did an ultrasound today to check my ovaries and found a cyst on my left ovary!. They didn't really explain anything to me about it, because they're not my doctor!. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the report I have means!.

It says the size of my left ovary is 50 x 34 x 53!.

44 x 36mm left ovarian cyst with echoes and anechoic areas!?!?!?

I'm not sure what any of this means!. I do have an appt!. with my ob/gyn on Thursday, but I'm a bit worried and wanted to find out as much as I can before then!.

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's great that you're helping out a couple to have a family! Cysts are very common and can be produced by a number of reasons!. First, the measurement of the ovary are it dimensions, length, width, and depth!. The second is the measurement of the cyst!. It may help to know where you were on your mestrual cycle!. At the beginning, when you're on your period, follicles are small because they have not begun to grow!. Knowing this there should not be any signs of a cyst!. If one is found it means that this is the follicle that you ovulated from the month before and it did not resolve!. Most of the time by the end of your next period it would resolve!. Although if it persists you may be put on birth control pills first, and then if necessary may need surgery!. Very seldom do I see that happen!.
On the other hand if you are mid cycle, being close to ovulation, and even after ovulation, it is normal to have a cyst!. Before ovulation it is called a follicular cyst, where the mature egg is developing!. After ovulation the cyst is called Corpus Leteum!. This type produces a hormone called progesterone that aides that uterine linning in preparation of a fertilized egg for implantation!.
This may be a lot of information to digest right now!. Do some research to ask your doc!. Don't let this stop your from helping a couple in search of a family!. Working in the fertility field brings I see an enormous joy these couples have when they hold their angels!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hey!. =]
Ovarian cysts are pretty much always benign, and quite common!. Sometimes they just go away on their own, other times they might have to be removed if they get too large!. I'm not a doctor so I don't know if yours are big or large, but either way you should be fine!. Ask your ob/gyn what type of cyst it is, they'll know what to do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
