Answers:
If you just finished your period on a Saturday, assuming a 5 day blood flow timeframe, then you wouldn't even ovulate until about nine days later!. Starting Plan B on the Monday (day 7) would be pointless as it would be pretty much impossible to get pregnant anyhow!. Of course, this is all assuming that you are dead certain that your cycle ended on the Saturday and that it was a regular cycle, at its regular interval!.

Now, "the following monday" would be day 14 of the cycle!. This would roughly be the time you ovulated!. You can get some minor blood flow on that day!.

If we look at the Plan B for a moment: Levonorgestrel, which is a progesterone derivative!. Progesterone is the hormone which allows the uterine lining to bulk up and get ready to support an embedded embryo!. Used as high dose "emergency contraception" it is presumed to act as an abortant by basically making the embryo unable to accept the embedding of a second embyo!. It is also presumed to mess up the ovulation event, hinder sperm transport etc!. One thing it most certainly will do is cause the uterine lining to bulk up!.

In a natural cycle, progesterone gradually increases, the uterus gradually bulks up!. Then, at the end, the ovaries stop putting out progesterone, the uterus finds it doesn't have enough hormone stimulus to support its new thicker lining, so it abandons the new tissue, the new tissue sloughs off, along with some bleeding that occurs then and there you have it: a normal menstrual flow!.

Now, if you highjacked the hormone systems with Plan B for a day, it is reasonable to expect the uterine lining did thicken a little, then quickly lost its support and sloughed it off approximately 7 days after you stopped the pill!.

All that said, all these hormone levels are being directed and closely monitored by the brain and its hormonal management systems (hypothalamus and pituitary gland)!. They will have been suppressed (negative feedback) minorly be the Plan B pills!. However, this affect would have been rather short-lived and probably not enough to really affect the brains current pattern!. Thus, I would expect your period to recurr at its usual time, albeit slightly lighter than usual cycles as you already sloughed some tissue with the mid-cycle flow!.

Hope that helps

Cheers

There is a difference between the bleeding caused by Plan B and your regular period!. There is also no way to tell if or for how long your next period would be delayed!.

The directions say that if your regular expected period is delayed by MORE than a week, you should take a pregnancy test!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
