No not at all!. Just get the smallest ones possible and practice with it!. What I used to do when I started using tampons is lay on my bed!. It relaxes your muscles and makes it easier to insert!. Be sure and get it up there though, cause otherwise it's not comfortable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. If you insert a tampon the right way, you shouldn't feel any discomfort!. Tampons are inserted into the vagina through the same opening from which menstrual fluid leaves your body!. For just about everybody, this opening is large enough to hold a tampon comfortably!.
Wash your hands and unwrap a fresh tampon!. Stand or sit in a comfortable position: some women find it easiest to crouch down with knees apart or to stand with one foot on the toilet seat or bath!. Hold the applicator (where the ridges are on the tube) with the thumb and middle finger of one hand!.
With the other hand spread the folds of skin around the vaginal opening!. Place the tip of the outer tube of the tampon applicator (not the end with the cord hanging out) in the opening of your vagina!.
The vagina slants upwards towards your back!. So, gently slide the applicator in an upwards and backwards direction!. (It sometimes helps to slightly rotate or twist the applicator from side to side)!. Stop pushing when your thumb and finger tough your body!.
Still holding the applicator on the ridges, push the bottom of the small tube completely up inside the big tube!. This slides the tampon out of the applicator and into your vagina!.
Hold tightly onto the two tubes that are now one inside the other!. Gently take out both applicator tubes together!. (Wrap them in tissue and put them in a bin!. The cardboard tubes can also be flushed away!.) You'll see that the cord of the tampon is now hanging down outside your body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cardboard applicators pinch me!. Why anyone would have made them out of this is beyond me!. I use Kotex because they're plastic, tapered and the best part they have a little ridge on the applicator you can hold with the tip of your finger to help with your grip while inserting!. I'd use nothing else!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I tried using a cardboard applicator once and just could not get it to work!. I use the Tampax Pearl tampons and they are the best! You might want to try the Playtex Slimfits if you are not yet used to tampons!. They are thinner and geared more for younger girls who are not used to them!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

nah, try using small ones first, pratise using them!. once you feel comfortable then go on using whatever else you feel like!. i guess it also depends on how heavy your period is as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

for your first time use one with an applicator once you feel confidant about inserting tampons use the cardboard ones, at first they might be slighty uncomfortable but after awhile it will stop!Www@Answer-Health@Com

no If you are relaxed they shouldnt I prefer without applicators!. try putting one foot on the side of the bath that helps insertionWww@Answer-Health@Com
