Ovarian Cyst Question?!

Question: Ovarian Cyst Question!?
For the past couple of years every time I'd get my period I would have intense, severe pain in my stomach, nausia, dizziness, fainting, diarrea, and chills associated with my period!. My mom finally brought me to the gyno to see what was wrong and they said I had an ovarian cyst and put me on birth control!. It's been about 4 months and although the severity of the symptoms has decreased, I still get those symptoms!. So I started to research and every website says that the symptoms I have require immediate medical attention!.

I guess my question is, is it bad that I'm not doing anything more than birth control!? I've read that many women have had to have an ovary removed and I really don't want to have to do that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The birth control pill has hormones in it!. Hormones can kill or stop the growth of the cyst!. It is a preliminary treatment!. However, if it is not gone now, you need to see the doctor again for an ultrasound!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you have a cyst (and are not polycystic,) you would need to go back to the Dr!. and discuss removal, which can usually be done without major ovary damage!.

More likely than not, it is not a cyst!. You can only develop new cysts (again, when not polycystic,) when you ovulate!. Since, when taken correctly, birth control prevents ovulation, it is more likely just bad cramps or a bad reaction to birth control, which can take 6 months or so to get over!.

Bottom line is, if you think you need immediate medical attention, get it!. Yahoo Answers isn't going to remove any cysts for you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In most cases, cysts will go away by themselves!. In cases where after this long it still hasn't gone away, it's time to go back to your doc!. And a lot of times a simple surgery is all it takes and you don't have to have an ovary removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycysteric ovarian syndrom) which basically means that i dont produce enough of the hormone that matures the eggs and thickens my uterine lining to make it come out every month!. So my unmatured eggs sit on the outside of my ovaries making a bunch of little cysts!. What did the drs do!? Put me on birth control to give me right amount of each hormone that I should have!. Now my periods are regular but I still maintain some of my old symptoms like yours!.

Some people just have bad periods!.!.!.there is not much you can do about it except take birth control!. If you dont like the opinion that the gyno gave you, go to another!. I have been through 4 until I found one that would be straight with me and knew what the heck he was doing!.

Most cysts go away on their own, but if it gets too bad, the will remove it!. Just keep track of it, note any increase in pain or symptoms and let you dr know of any changes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
