Question: First pap smear!?
ok, so i'm 19, and i'm getting ready to have my first pap/annual exam!. Anything to be nervous about!? I shave "down there" should i let it grow and be natural!? Do they care!? lol!.!.I'm so nervous!.!.!.any tips!? What goes on!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, they don't care whether you shave or not!. Basically, they'll let you put this paper gown on & give you a sheet to cover up with!. They'll explain things to you, then have you put your feet up in the stirrups!. If you're lucky, you'll have a doc who's quick!. He'll insert the speculum (most use disposable plastic now, so it's not cold either), look inside for any abnormalities, then do the pap smear!. That's just a funky looking scraper, which usually doesn't hurt (may feel a little uncomfortable though)!. They scrape a few cells off & that part's done!. Then they feel with their fingers to make sure you don't have any lumps or anything there!. Then they give you some tissues so you can wipe off that "icky" feeling, & leave the room so you can clean up & put your clothes back on!. I don't think mine lasted 5 minutes total! oh- i mean, i dont think they care!.!.!. they will tell you they dont!. They really arent looking at everything around it, just inside!. Its over so quickly, you will get the biggest relief when you walk out of there!. Like, yeay, its over with for a whole year! They see the worst of the worst, and they are used to seeing it all!. Just keep it how you normally have it (shaved) and dont worry about it!. The exam part doesnt bug me, them feeling around doesnt bug me (none of it has ever hurt, so dont be afraid of that) - the only part i ever get weirded out about is when they come in, hand you the gown, then say ok get undressed completly, put on this gown, and they return in like 5 minutes!. I always feel weird stripping down and putting on this ol gown and waiting in silence as i sit there waiting for them!. That is the worse part for me!. Its not that bad in all!. And after your 3rd one you are like, yeah, i got this- it aint nothin!. Oh by the way, good for you, these exams are important for you- you are taking a good responsibility!. i had to get one, it wasnt too bad!. no, don't worry about shaving etc, they don't care! i hope you don't have a man gyno!.!. ^!.^

believe me Katie, no need to do anything but take a good shower before!. Natural is fine, they do not care because they see bottoms all day long!. It is their job!. Take deep breaths and hum!. This decreases anxiety!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Do not shave your pubic hair!. It will grow back extremely itchy and think about it!.!. what happens if you cut yourself!?
