I am in my 3rd trimester and my doctor just prescribed Zoloft for me...?!

Question: I am in my 3rd trimester and my doctor just prescribed Zoloft for me!.!.!.!?
I have been incredibly depressed for several months now!. I know she wouldn't have prescribed it if she thought it would hurt the baby but I'm still worried!. Does anyone out there have experience with this!?

Also, she said I will need to get off of it 2 weeks before my due date, anyone know the reason for that!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Some anti-depressants are OK to take during pregnancy!. I was on Wellbutrin XL but was told I would have to go off it before the end of my pregnancy!. I did end up taking myself off it with my Dr help, but could of stayed on it!.

She explained to me each drug fits in a category of A, B, C, D, and X!. There are certain anti-depressants that fall in the C category including Zoloft, Prozac, and Wellbutrin XL!. Pregnancy Category C is this!.!.!.!.Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks!.

Just remember your Dr knows best!. You will be OK, and so will your baby!. Depression is hard pregnant or not!. Good luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your doctor knows better than anyone here!. She knows all your medical history and is actually a licensed professional!. Don't worry about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
