Should I worry about my absent periods?!

Question: Should I worry about my absent periods!?
I am 21 but have never settled into a regular cycle (except whilst on the pill but obviously that doesn't count)!. I started my period at 13 then very erratically for a few years (less than 4 times a year) until they stopped completely at 16 after losing some weight and lots of exercise!. I went to see a doctor who said it was because my bodyfat was too low and not to worry!. I didn't get my period again till putting weight on at 20 when I had 2 in between being on the pill!.
To complicate matters I have been on and off the pill about 3 times in the last 3 years, since coming off the pill in January I've had two periods about 40 days apart but none since April!.
I am worried my erratic cycle may be PCOS or something like that!.
I know dieting and exercise mess up your cycle but even as a teen before I did that I never got a regular cycle!.
How long should I wait before getting a regular cycle!?
Is it a cause for concern!?
At the moment my bmi is about 24 but I exercise about 3hrs a week!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should definitely have your gynecologist answer your question, because there are so many variables involved that only a qualified physician could truly give you an accurate diagnosis!. (if it's a disorder) However, based on the information you've given, I highly doubt you are looking at something like PCOS!. Normal irregularity due to your age or external factors can easily be mistaken for a menstrual/premenstrual disorder!.

You're young enough that your body is probably still changing hormonally - I'm 22 and I've gone through many changes over the past couple years that have made me concerned that I had one disorder or another!. It has turned out though that I'm just still 'growing' in some ways - none of my issues have truly been things to be concerned about!.

Just talk to your gynecologist to rule out any serious problems!. Not having a regular cycle does not necessarily mean you're unhealthy by any means!. However, if it really bothers you that much and hormonal birth control works for you, that would likely be the most effective way for you to regulate it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If You Are Sexually Active, Yes you should be worried!. You need to take a pregnancy test asap!. Another reason could be overly stressed, or if you started taking a new medication like Birth Control!. If you are having lower stomach pains you could have a sist!. Either way you really need to make an appointment with your doctor or atleast a clinic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should definilty bring this up to your doctor, you don't want to wait, because it could cause you to now be able to have children, etc!.!.!. if something is wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, you should go to the doctors!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

there is nothing to worry about!. you should trust what your doctor has to say and continue what ever they have told you to do, and not to worry to much about it!. but hen again there are other vairables so do check again later or as soon as possible!. but as u say that u have already checked with ur doctor i don't think there is something to worry about, so just follow what u have been told to do and things will hopefully be better soon, and try to relax a bit, although this would be a hard thing to do at a time like this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
