Why does cramping occur during menstrual periods?!

Question: Why does cramping occur during menstrual periods!?
I have severe cramping about 99% of the time whenever I get my periods, and I was just wondering why it hurts so much lol!.

I was told that the pain is due to uterus walls peeling, is that true!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
it's from your uterus contracting which is using the muscles and it makes it hurt and the reason it contracts is because it's shedding the lining and pushing it outWww@Answer-Health@Com

The first answer is correct, but I would like to add that if your cramping is very severe, it might also be due to endometriosis!. Endometriosis is when pieces of the uterine lining (tissue) can migrate to places other than your uterus (example, abdominal cavity, rectal area)!. Then when you get your normal menstrual cycle, the hormones also act on those pieces of misplaced tissue, causing severe cramping in those areas as well!. If you cramps are very severe and/or you experience cramping in other areas, you may want to have a talk with your gyn!. I will include a link that explains endometriosis in more detail:Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah Pixie is defo right, your walls dont "peel" they contract and thats why you get cramps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
