Answers:
A colposcopy is performed after an abnormal smear!. It just checkes the cells in your cervix by taking a small biopsy!. It can be uncomfortable but not extremely painful!.
A lot of girls get abnormal results and have to go for these!. In a lot of cases, everything is OK but it is always best to follow up on these things as you never know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Colposcopy is a detailed examination of the cervix (neck of the womb)!. A colposcope is like a large magnifying glass, which allows the doctor to look more closely at cell changes on the cervix!. The colposcope does not touch the body, or go inside it!. As with a cervical screening test, the doctor gently inserts a speculum into the vagina, so that the cervix can be seen through the colposcope!.

Sometimes colposcopy clinics have video equipment so that the doctor can view the examination on a screen!. You will be able to watch this too, if you want to!.

when you have a colposcopy the doctor conducts a pelvic exam and spray a solution on your cervix and checks for abnormal areas!. If any are found he/she will collect the specimen ( which is the biopsy part)!. It will be uncomfortable just being there!. It is common when paps are abnormal to check for HPV!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
