D&C question?!

Question: D&C question!?
Im going in for a D&C, after having a miscarriage, today at 2 and my friend is taking me!. I was to shocked at the doctors office to ask these questions but now I need to know!. How long it will take from the moment I go in to the time I can go home, is there any medicine they give you during and after, how long should I expect to be sore afterward, and any other info you can give me!. Thanks in advanceWww@Answer-Health@Com

The procedure is fairly quick, you could probably be expected to be in the doctors office a couple hours, unless you are sedated, or put under!. Then it could take 4-6 hours!. You'll probably be given something for pain, but they could recommend an over-the-counter pain remedy!. Healing could take one to three weeks, you will feel weak but you'll feel a bit better after a few days!. Postpone any sex for at least that long - give yourself time!. It may be very difficult the first few times you try, and you may not be able to because things may get emotional!.

Also, when people hear about a miscarriage, the will try to find any words to say that they think might make you feel better - and what they say may inadvertently hurt!. When I had my miscarriage, all the words did was make me cry because I'd been so attached to being pregnant!. The best words that were said to me came from my sister - simply - "I'm so sorry"!. Please understand that people often don't know what to say, but they do mean well!.

Lastly, from me to you, I'm so sorry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi,

I am so sorry for your loss!. I too have had 2 miscarriages!. I had a d and c after one of them!. I also had a d and c after a birth!. I did not have a perfect sense of time with all that was going on, but the actual procedure cannot be more than 20 minutes!. Most of the time is the waiting in a larger room for your surgical "turn"!. Then you wait in recovery to wake out of the "twilight" light sleep (unless you are going under fully - usually not done anymore)!. After I woke up, we left about 15 minutes later!.

In all, maybe 2 hours from start to end!. If there are hospital emergencies, you may have to wait longer!. You should not be worried about time!. And I am sure your friend will be understanding as this is a tough time and time is not under your control!.

They may prescribe a strong version of advil!. You can also take some or get some advil for some cramping afterwards!. I was not that sore!. But everyone is different!. Keep track of your period afterward, when it starts back up!. It is important to make sure everything is "working" properly!.

Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

The whole procedure will last from about 4 to 8 hours!. So expect to be there for a long time!. They give you a pill for dilation before the procedure!. They don't give you anything after!. You shouldn't expect to be sore afterwards!. Just relax all day!. Good Luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have no idea, just wanted to say how sorry I am for!. Have no idea how you must be feeling xxxxWww@Answer-Health@Com
