I'm sixteen and I haven't had a period in four months?!

Question: I'm sixteen and I haven't had a period in four months!?
I'm 16 and I haven't had a period in four months!. I started three-four years ago!. I'm not a likely candidate for polycystic ovary syndrome other than the fact that I have stretched periods!. I am still a virgin and I am overweight!. Does anybody know what it could be!? This is the second time it's happened where I've gone four-five months without having a period then I suddenly have one!. There were many symptoms for Polycystic syndrome and the only ones that applied to me were the elongated periods and being overweight!. Somep people say it's just because I'm young and periods are always irrgular if you're between the ages of 13-18 but I don't know what to think!. If I lost a significant amount of weight would it start back again!? Any help would be much appreciated!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
weight does affect your period, but the fact that you're only 16 is a factor as well!. at 16, your periods will fluctuate!. i can remember having a period almost every other week for 2 whole months (it was the worst 2 months of my life because of the "gotta wear my gym shorts for the rest of the day" moments)!.
if you are on the internet trying to diagnose yourself, you are going to find you have a symptom for everything!. you're too young to be putting yourself thru that stress!. if you have questions, go to your gynecologist, family practitioner, the school nurse, or pediatrician for the answers!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, my bff is 15 and she got her period about 7 months ago then it stopped, she was over weight so i was helping her get back into shape, then she lost about 10-12 lbs and she got her period back about 2 months ago, so i think it's probably because of the weight, but don't worry!:)
You're good to go until you're 18!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It could just be that your stressed out, or maybe changed you eatting habbits!. I don't think it has anything to do with you being overweight unless you just recently gained all that weight in the past few months!. I would check with your doctor though just to get a check up and make sure that everythings okay!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

are you sure that you are not sexually active in anyway!.!.!.!?
this type of thing happens a lot and i wouldn't be too worried about it!. if i were you i would probably go and see your doctor just to be sure everything is OK!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a friend with that same problem, and she was put on birth control pills to make her periods regular!. She was as well overweight!. The doc said also told her to lose weight!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
