A pap is recommended when you turn 21 or become sexually active!. Possibly earlier if you have a nasty family history of issues!. They're never fun!

Let your gyno know that you are a virgin (you will likely have mentioned it anyway in paperwork - I know for my first exam I had to detail history, etc)!. It will be very uncomfortable, and possibly a little pinchy but try to relax and put your mind on something else!. As far as your hymen goes, as long as the doc does it gently it should not be affected or cause any extra pain!.

In general, the more tense you are, the more uncomfortable it will be!. The tools he or she uses will be cold and slightly uncomfortable (a speculum basically opens the vagina up so the doc can see your cervix), and he/she will just swab your cervix and it will take a couple of seconds!. The speculum will come out, and all will be well!.

You'll get your results within a few days after that!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

A pap should not hurt, it is just uncomfortable!.

Tell your doctor you are a virgin!. Ask them to use the smallest speculum possible!. Use that phrase specifically!. "Can you use the smallest possible speculum, please!?" Tell them you are nervous, as well since it is your first pap smear!.

A pap smear should NOT be painful if your doctor is doing it correctly!. You will be uncomfortable as the sensations will be totally new to you but do your best to relax and you should be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it will hurt!. It hurts even if you are not a virgin!. Well, not hurt, exactly, but it is incredibly uncomfortable!. It's also necessary!.

Why are you getting a pap!? You don't need one if you are a virgin!.!.!.!. a pelvic exam is generally enough!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a pap smear and I am a virgin yes it will hurt alot but try to relax if you stay relaxed it will make things alot better because it will be over faster that way, afterwards it will still be hurting alittle bit but you should be fine after a couple of hours later it will feel fineWww@Answer-Health@Com

it doesn't feel great by any means, but it's not extremely painful!. it's more just uncomfortable!. you have to be sure and RELAX! i know that sounds silly b/c of the circumstances, but the more relaxed you are the easier it is!. just hang in there and it will be over before you know it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok well it isn't fun at all, but what they will do is lube up what they use to put in you, they will get what they need and get out, it is quick!. Basically you will just feel pressure towards your butt!. It shouldn't hurt, but you might be uncomfortable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

As all the other answers say, yes it is uncomfortable!. You should ask your doctor if they have a pediatric speculum!. It will be easier to handle than the full sized one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is uncomfortable, but it shouldn't be painful!. The procedure only lasts a few seconds!. Let your doctor know if you feel really significant pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I screamed throughout mine, despite the relaxant drug they gave me!. I was 13 at the time, and am still traumatized by it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

pap smers are only for those who are sexulay active dear, you don't need one unless you are getting down and dirty!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It shouldn't hurt but, make sure you let your doctor know that you are a virgin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
