Tampon question....?????!

ok, so im 14 and ive had my period like 6 times!. my mum and I agreed that i should start using tampons!. i got the playtex sport ones (regular, not super or anything) and i can get them up without any pain!. when i walk around i cant feel it or anything, but when i look (i wore a pad under just in case) theres still blood on the pad!. when i take the tampon out its not even filled up a centimeter!. im pushing it up as far as it goes (like, i can feel something keeping it from going further and it also kinda hurts)
im still a virgin, but the peice of skin there broke already!. I came home from ballet and there was a little bit of brown stuff on my underwear!. i thought i had started my period, but there was no more blood in the morning and i didnt have bleeding after that so i knew it was that and not my period!.
i am small (5' and 100 pounds) so could it have anything to do with that!? i mean, it should fit cuz girls smaller than me use them without any problem!.
