It's a pretty poor doctor of either sex, who allows him or herself to be embarrassed by anything any patient says!. Irregular bleeding and changed blood are both very common for some women using any of the progesterone only methods of contraception, which includes implants like yours!.

However offensive smelling discharge always indicates an element of infection!. Your GP needs to take an HVS, ( high vaginal swab,) and treat any infection found on this!. Your bleeding issues are unlikely to improve after a year on the implant and my advice would also be to consider an alternative method of contraception!.

Assuming that infection is present it is not a good idea to leave things for another 3 weeks!. I would arrange a much earlier appointment as a matter of moderate urgency!

( I NEVER look at other answers before adding mine, good one Rhianna, thumbs up!)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have the implant and was told to expect bleeding, spotting and possible brown discharge!.
Some people get this alot and others get no bleeding at all!.

I do think that you should see the female doctor but a 3 week wait is terrible!.
Do you have a family planning clinic near you!? Nurses at Family Planning are very helpful and know a lot about contraception!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This sounds pretty common, called "breakthrough bleeding" it happens to other women who are on the pill and have the injection, however some women it doesn't!. It's only a very very light period, the thick brown stuff i normally get on the last day of my period!.

The male doctor sounds like a pig! Go to a female doctor and report the git!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i can't believe that your doctor was embarassed!.!.!.!. they are docotrs, and should'nt be phased by this, that i just unprofessional i think!.

you have waited five weeks so whats 3 more, if it gets worse though to to hospital, and i would recomend changing doctors!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

May be a blood disorder!. My sister bled all the time on and off one week on and stop for two days and on it again!. Six years she has been diagnosed with Vonwilderbrans disease!. (spelling may be wrong) May be an infection!. Go to doctor,!Www@Answer-Health@Com

There must be a practice nurse at the Drs if not look in the phone book internet for your nearest Well Woman clinic and go there if you are concerned get a second opinion good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

well im sure if it was serious, the male doctor would have done something, rather than making you wait 3 weeks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It can be common to have discharge; however as you have said the discharge smells bad, this can be an indication of infection!. I'd try and see a Dr within a week so they can take a swab and treat accordingly!. The Dr may also want to look at why your getting break through bleeding!.
Your male Dr shouldn't have been uncomfortable, Dr's and Nurses are used to seeing the human body parts all day every day!. His attitude was very unprofessional

Edit
Thank you Dr Frank I've returned the thumbs up favour! As I said before, maybe two great minds think alike! That, or your starting to rub off on me!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

the matter needs investigation, dr frank has already very rightly pointed this out!. it seems, that the contraceptive method you are having is not the right thing for your hormon-status!. having smear-bleedings and therefore blood-particules in your vagina all the time, is not a good thing, it forms a breeding ground for bacteria and as it smells bad, there must be some sort of infection present, which needs to be attended to and treated!. that you have brown/black d/c would not worry me too much, as coagulated blood looks like that, when it comes to rest in a cavity for some time!. however, this is not the way it should be and you need a different method of contraception altogether!Www@Answer-Health@Com
