Sharp pain in pelvic area... is this ovulating?!
Question: Sharp pain in pelvic area!.!.!. is this ovulating!?
I used to get really sharp pains in my pelvic area before I started taking the birth control pill!. Were these pains signs of ovulation!? My mom and sisters used to get it also!. I used to happen around my period!.

Ovulation pain is also called "Middleschmertz"!. It is sharp pain however, it would happen mid cycle!.!.!.!.not just before your period!.
Sharp pelvic pain just before your period could be a sign of ovarian cysts or endometriosis!. I would go to your doctor next time you get that pain!. They would do a pelvic ultrasound to see if it is cysts!. When you were on the pill, you do not produce follicles nor do you ovulate, hence the reason for not having any pain!. Birth control is frequently prescribed for those who have ovarian cysts to try to shrink them!. If you find out that you do have ovarian cysts, this increases your risk for ovarian torsion (ovary twisting!.!.!.cutting off blood supply to the ovary and then the ovary dies)!. When this happens, it is extremely painful as well and requires emergency surgery!.
You don't necessarily have to wait for the pain to come again to go to the doctor!. You could go at any time now to let them know about this sharp pelvic pain that you have!. The would still do an ultrasound!. If you want to have kids in your future, you should get this checked out and controlled before it is too late!.
