When it comes to using a tampon, there is not right time to start using it atall, when you are ready to ware you, just go ahead!. It makes everything alot easier, you can go swimming and do everything as if you were not on your period!.
It shouldn't feel like it is even there aswell (if inserted properly!.)
You need to relax when inseting a tampon in for the first time, insert it in gently and be careful!. I have always found Playtex slimfits to be the best type of tampons to use!. But many other people like different types!. You should take a hours to pratice putting one in as it does take a while to get the hang of it! if you don't get it right first time leeve it for 5mins' then go back to it and don't get stressed out either!.
It might be easier if you get some lube aswell, to apply to the end of it so it slids in alot more easier and hurts less!.
Here is a guide i got of a website which should be really usful!.

1!.Sit or stand in a comfortable position!. Some women prefer to place one leg on the toilet seat or tub, while others prefer to squat down!. After you find a position that is most comfortable for you, hold the tampon with the fingers that you write with!. Hold the middle of the tampon, at the spot where the smaller, inner tube inserts into the larger, outer tube!. 2!.Make sure the string is visible and pointing away from your body!.
With your other hand, open the labia (the folds of skin around the vaginal opening) and position the tampon in the vaginal opening!. (See picture 1 below)!.
3!.Gently push the tampon into the opening, aiming for the small of your back!. Stop when your fingers touch your body and the applicator, or outer tube, is completely inside the vagina!. (See picture 2 below)!.
4!.Once the applicator or outer tube is inside of you, use your index finger to push the inner tube (the tube where the removal string is visible) through the outer tube!. This pushes the tampon into the vagina!.
5!.Once the inner tube is all the way in, use your thumb and middle finger to remove the applicator or outer tube!. (See picture 3 below)!. Make sure that the string hangs outside of the vaginal opening!. Later, when you are ready to remove the tampon, hold the string and gently pull it downward until the entire tampon is out!.

Goodluck! (=Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tampons can be very uncomfortable at first, and especially when you first start using them!. If this is your first period I would wait a little bit!. Let your body get used to what is going on!. Pads can be really gross at times, but chances are you will not flow enough your first time to fully use a tampon!.

This is such a neat time in your life and I think your mom would love nothing more than to share it with you!. I know it can be kind of awkward to talk about, but trust me, she's been there and done that, and you'll find it alot easier than you think!. Talking about this with her will also open up some doors to communcation about more serious things in the future!. This is the first stage in every girls life that they become closer to their moms!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I suggest trying to use the tampons, they're so much cleaner and you can swim and do activies in them! There are girls younger than 12 who use tampons!. If you're old enough to have a period, you're old enough to use tampons!. Just relax and keep trying!.!.!.!.it' will go in one of these times, yes it will probably be a little uncomfortable the first few times and then you'll never have a problem again!.!.!.!.!.!.!.when you have it in right, you don't even feel it! I couldn't survive without tampons, I hate pads, they're uncomfortable, unsanitary and always seem to leak! Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tampons will be uncomfortable to start with as your vagina is so tight having never had sex!. You could try thinner pads for now or persevere with tampons!. the trick is to stand with one leg on the edge of the bath and relax, dont tense!.

Also remember that once the tampon is passed the opening a bit to push it back towards your bottom slightly not straight up , this is because of the way your body curves inside!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try to relax and put a wee bit of vaseline on the end of the tampax!. It is a very strange feeling when you first use them but is, by far, the best kind of menstrual protection to use!. I had a few attempts when I first started my period and was able to insert one properly using the vaseline and "empty house" method!. It's far easier to practice when there is nobody else waiting outside the toilet door!!!! You will know when it is in far enough, one tube will be totally inside the other!. Good luck!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There is no reason why a girl who has recently started her periods shouldn't use tampons!. Make sure you use them when your flow is the heaviest (so there is enough lubrication there) You could also put some lubricant on the tip of the tampon at first!.!.this will make insertion easier!. Rather than pushing the tampon 'upwards' in your vagina, push towards the back of your vagina!. Just relax and take a deep breath as your doing it!. I took me years to learn how to use them! Just keep trying!. For all the people that are saying your 'too young to be poking things there'!.!. that's complete bullshit, and it's medically incorrect!. It will not necessarily break your hymen either!. A tampon is the size of a finger, no more!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You might be trying to stick it 'straight' in, rather than angling it toward your back!. There's nothign wrong with using vasoline or KY jelly (can be bought at the registeres at WalMart,!. no ID required) to lube it up if you are dry!. Maybe practice when you aren't bleeding to get the hang of it!. Soemtimes standing withone foot on the toilet and o ne foot on the floor will help!. go slow, practice, practice, practice!. For some, it helps to take it out of the filter and just stick it in that way!. You will have to 'bump' the bottom up with your finter, that means you have to put your finger inside you As long as you don't have fake nails (sanitation issue here), it should be fine!. You can always wash your hands really well!. You'll get used to it! Or, you can wear super-absorbant pads that are thin and just change it more often - there's nothign wrong with that at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's going to hurt because you're young and the hole is pretty small!. Just take deep breaths and push in!. I find it easier to insert when laying down!. Pads are uncomfortable but maybe until you're more used to this you can switch off from pad to tampon!. There is no minimum age but just work yourself into it!. You will know you have pushed it far back enough when you don't feel in when you're standing!. You may go through a few getting used to it!. Don't worry though, that's normal :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get plastic not cardboard!.!.!.cardboard hurts going in!. I say get the pearl tampons!.!.!.those babies are so comfortable going in and you can literally not feel them!. I think it might hurt because you might be to dry down there!. If you are just ending your period dont wear em'!.!.!.wear a tinier pad or pantiliner!. If your dry it is harder to put em' in and it is a little uncomfortable until the blood starts to flow again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you may be inserting it in the wrong way!. You need to try different positions, like sitting on the stool or standing with one foot on the stool and dont forget you need to insert it in a slanted position not directly up!. Make sure you are using plastic applicators and that your mom gets you the ones made for teens they are a bit slimmer and smaller!. Good luck honey!. If that doesnt work then maybe your still to small and you need to just get thin pads!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well u gotta relax wen u r puttin it in, r they applicator or non-aplicator ones, applicator ones are easier coz the way it works the tampon is in the right place n wen u take it out if it hurts when you first pull it then u need 2 leave it in for a bit longer!. u can where them for 8 hours!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wore my first ones at age 11!. It will take some time and patience to get the first one in!.

Be sure you are aiming it correctly, it should be aimed towards your lower back!.

Put some KY jelly on it as well to help slide it in!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you need to talk to your mom about im sure she'll help you with it, i believe you are putting it in wrong and thats why it hurtsWww@Answer-Health@Com

use some pads at your age to start out with , i use pads and they are very comfortable and im 21, but def start out with pads and as yo get older yo can try them againWww@Answer-Health@Com

Dont push it straight up as the tube inside us isnt straight its diagonal towards the back so push it up at an angle!.
If you still have problems read the instructions!.
Hope this helps!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Make sure they are plastics not cardboards! :)

Its akward to try to put them in at first and may take a while!. Just make sure you don't tense up!

Good Luck :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

www!.beinggirl!.com i suggest that website!.It's very goodWww@Answer-Health@Com

well first of all you may want to be careful with tampons, because you could end up breaking your hymen (virginity) that way!.
usually you're supposed to get in a position where you're very relaxed and your legs are spread open, then you put it in!.
pads are probably the best way to go, though, at least until you start having sex!. i know they're bulky and irritating but they'll keep your virginity in tact and they really are much safer for your age!.
