What causes constipation?!


Question: What causes constipation!?
I can go a long time without having a bowel movement sometimes so longit gets serious!.!.!.the doctor said I have low fiberintake but sometimes I eat right and I still can't go or I don't eat any good fods and I have a bowel movement and some ppl don't eat right and that doesn't happen to them!.

The main causes of constipation include:

Hardening of the feces
Improper mastication (chewing) of food
Insufficient intake of dietary fiber
Dehydration from any cause or inadequate fluid intake
Medication, e!.g!. diuretics and those containing iron, calcium, aluminum
Paralysis or slowed transit, where peristaltic action is diminished or absent, so that feces are not moved along
Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland)
Hypokalemia
Injured anal sphincter (patulous anus)
Medications, such as loperamide, opioids (e!.g!. codeine & morphine) and certain tricyclic antidepressants
Severe illness due to other causes
Acute porphyria (a rare inherited condition)
Lead poisoning
Dyschezia (usually the result of suppressing defecation)
Constriction, where part of the intestine or rectum is narrowed or blocked, not allowing feces to pass

there is a lack of fiber so drink it or eat it--depends on which is accessible to you; try Benefiber (a simple powder that you can use on any liquid or food; it has no taste) and drink a lot of water with it; whenever you drink it or eat fiber you need to drink lot and lots of fiber otherwise you will so bloated that you will want to puke; this is why some people that take fiber in their diet hate fiber--they forgot to drink water or other fluid but stay with water!. :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

Drink more fluids!. Even increasing your fiber intake can make the problem worse instead of better if you drink too little fluid!. The fiber expands and binds!.
Eat less meat and more veggies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ensure you drink allot of water and try to eat allot of fruit, also stop worrying because stress is a possible course!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would reccomend taking fiber supplement pills!. Also eat prunes or prune juice, that will help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You say that sometimes you eat right, but sounds like its not enough!. To get you back on track, I suggest taking metemucil daily but take it with TONS of water!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
