Question: Please help! Can my dr!. prescribe Birth Control pills without doing a Pap smear!?!?
I'm having my annual physical exam in an hour & I was supposed to get my first pap smear!. My period came a couple days ago, its lighter but not quite finished!. I'd like to go on bc pills as I'm planning to be sexually active soon (I'm a virgin as of now)!. So obviously w/my period i prob wont get a pap, but does that effect her prescribing me for bc pills!?!? Any insight appreciated!! thx!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It depends on your doctor, but most won't perscribe birth control pills without a pap smear!. They have to make sure you don't have any STDs (I know, you're a virgin, but still) and they check for cervical cancer!.
Some doctors will do a pelvic exam while a woman is on her period!. Just tell the doctor when you get here that you want to go on the pill but you're on your period, and see what he/she can do!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a pap done when I was 17 and on my period, but I wasn't bleeding too bad at the time, so yeah, you can have it done still and they can write you a prescription for the BC!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You only need to get one when you become sexually active or when you turn 18!.

But with birth control you dont NEED to get a pap smear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i dont really know what your problem isWww@Answer-Health@Com
