Hysterectomy at young age!

Question: Hysterectomy at young age
If my mother and grandmother had hysterectomies at a young age (around 40), does that mean I will have to as well!?

I really don't know why they had to have it done, and neither has told me that I need to be concerned about it!. I guess I'm asking, why do some women have to have hysterectomies at such a young age, or at all for that matter!?

Thanks

1 in 3 women over the age of 60 have had hysterectomies!. Here are the most common reasons, copied and pasted from http://www!.womenshealth!.gov

Why do women have hysterectomies!?

Hysterectomy is used to treat:

* Fibroids!. More hysterectomies are done because of fibroids than any other problem of the uterus!. For many women with fibroids, symptoms are minimal and require no treatment!. Also, the fibroids often shrink after menopause!. But fibroids can cause heavy bleeding or pain in some women!.
* Endometriosis!. This happens when the tissue lining the inside of your uterus grows outside the uterus on your ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other pelvic or abdominal organs!. When medication and surgery do not cure endometriosis, a hysterectomy often is performed!.
* Uterine prolapse!. This is when the uterus moves from its usual place down into the vagina!. This can lead to urinary problems, pelvic pressure, or difficulty with bowel movements!.
* Cancer!. If you have cancer of the uterus, cervix, or ovary a hysterectomy may be part of the treatment your doctor recommends!.
* Persistent vaginal bleeding!. If your periods are heavy, not regular, or last for many days each cycle and nonsurgical methods have not helped to control bleeding, a hysterectomy may bring relief!.
* Chronic pelvic pain!. Surgery is a last resort for women who have chronic pelvic pain that clearly comes from the uterus!. However, many forms of pelvic pain aren't cured by a hysterectomy, and so this approach can be a permanent mistake!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

My mom had to have a hysterctomy at 43 because of cysts on her ovaries!. The cysts were causing very heavy bleeding and lots of pain and her hemoglobin count actually dropped to 8!.

There are a few reasons why young people have hysterectomies!. Ovarian or uterine cancer, ectopic pregnancies, and fibrocystic ovaries are all common reasons!.

You may not have to have one at an early age but because of your genetic background it is a possibly!. It is important that you take good care of yourself now and get checked regularly by an OB-GYN to make sure that health issues don't develop!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Years ago there were not half as many medical procedures and medicines as there are now!. Hysterectomies were commonly done as a solution to many female problems!. Nowadays they do them as a last resort!. So I am going to say that it does not increase your chances of getting one unless your mother and grandmother had some abnormal condition where that is the only cure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

see, there r so many reasons behind hysterectomy!. unless u know why they were operated 4 hysterectomy, it seems to b impossible to predict wheather u hav 2 b operated!.

if it is due to fibroid ( which is the commonest), there is also a positive chance for u to get disased by the same!. in that case u r to watch 4 heavy bleeding and/or break through spotting!.

sometimes, just after caesarian section, there is uterine inertia, and the surgeon has to do hysterectomy to save bleeding in mother , i!.e, to save mother's life!.

what ever b the cause, be sure, unless u be married and u hav a complete family, u should not b operated 4 hysterectomy!.

make 1 thing clear, cervical cancer in advancing stage warrants hysterectomy!. so b very carefull---- hav regular check-up by ur doctors------ hav a monogamic sexual relationship ( cervical cancer is more in polygamic girls)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Why don't you ask your mother why she had one!. There are lots of reasons!. STDs, fibroid tumors, cancer, severe PID, infection!.!.!. Tons of reasons!.

No, it doesn't automatically mean you will have to have one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
