I would think a hysterectomy would help your pmt go away, since if you get a hysterectomy you don't have periods anymore!. I know someone else suggested Yaz, but I was on it and it just made everything worse!. Even though my situation is not exactly like yours, I do know how you feel about considering a hysterectomy!. I'm only 23 and don't have any kids, but I have also thought about getting a hysterectomy!. For almost a year and a half, I have been bleeding heavily almost constantly (a lot of times it is heavier than my heavy periods used to be) and having severe pelvic pain all the time!. I have been to a regular OB/GYN who did a laparoscopy, said she found nothing, and told me to "hang in there"!. Needless to say, I found another doctor!. My current doc is an endometrial specialist who has done too many tests to count and still can't find anything yet!. I will be having another laparoscopy in 2 weeks, but I don't know if he'll find anything!. Like you, I have been on many different birth control methods, which haven't worked!. I have been on 5 birth control pills and currently the depo shot in the past year and a half!. None have helped and things just keep getting worse!. I have seriously been thinking about asking my doctor about a hysterectomy (I know he would probably say no)!. Most of the time it is difficult for me to even get out of bed because of all of this constant bleeding and stabbing pain!. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that there is someone out there who kind of knows how you feel!. You should definitely ask your doctor about a hysterectomy and see if they think it's a good option!. I would get a hysterectomy if I was in your situation, especially since you already have kids!. Good luck!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It might work but you need to know the cause of your PMT as there are now many schools of thought on what causes it!. If you haven't been referred to one ask to see an Endocrinologist it may not be anything to do with the gyn area of the body!. It could be hormone problems which they can treat!.

I have polycystic ovaries and saw an Endocrinologist they deal with the whole body system rather than the womb area!.

A hysterectomy isn't as rosy as you might think I know many who have still suffered pmt like symptoms even though womb and ovaries have been removed!. I don't believe the medical system will do a hysterectomy just for PMT, think wisely about the choices you make!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You know there are new forms of the Pill on the market that can help with PMS!? One, called Yaz, I believe is actually approved by the FDA to treat PMS and PMDD!. Go talk to your OB/GYN and discuss your issues!. If he/she is dismissing them, then it's time to go to another doctor!.

Good luck, sweetie!

P!.S!. Previous poster gave good info too!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a hysterectomy!. No more periods!. But I kept my ovearies, so I still have pms!.

I don't think hysterectomy is your only option, Find a good board certified gynecologist and talk about options!.
