Question: My mother and i arguing about tampons!?
i bought tampons for the first time last week (im 17) and they are so much more comfortable than pads and i could go swimming!.
then today in the morning my mother says she threw them out because they;re not good for your health!. i told her i have done my research and change them every 4 hours and wear a pad at night!. i told her i know about TSS!. She said that when you wear a tampon, all the germs and dirty blood that's supposed to come onto a pad, stays up there!. i told her that they absorb into the tampon and even when wearing a pad, traces of blood and germs are still left up there!.
im not looking for you to say im right!.!.!.just the truth! who is right and are tampons really that unsafe!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tampons are perfectly safe if you use them correctly which you seem to be doing!. Your mother has some preconceived notions about them that you may not be able to convince her otherwise!. However, you are 17 and can do what you need to for your own personal hygiene!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
It does sound like she is very old school in her thinking!. It is actually perfectly safe for virgins and non virgins alike!. To even get TSS, you would need to wear the tampon for about 24 hours (which is unlikely since you eventually would bleed through it)!. During your period, the only things that come out are blood and blood clots!. If you are wearing a pad at night, you have nothing to worry about in terms of the clots coming out!. It is very difficult for people of that generation to accept the newer generation's world!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

i swim everday and i have to wear tampons!.!.!.but pads are easier to use and they're easier to know when to change!.!.!.but honestly tampons are so much better cuz pads feel like diapers and although there is a risk of getting tss with tampons they are perfectly safe as long as you change them every three hours and make sure they're unscentedWww@Answer-Health@Com
using a tampon doesn't take away your virginity, but a lot of "old fashioned" people think they do!.!.!. and also, using tampons is not unhealthy, they used to be but they have been made more advanced and safer!. as long as you don't leave one in for longer than 6 hours you should be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
No they are not unsafe! Millions of women all over America wear them everyday!. Your mom is being way to overprotective!. Pads are a thing of the past!. I started using tampons when I was 13, during my first period!. I leave them in all night and I am just fine!. Tell your mom to lighten up!. You are a big girl now! Www@Answer-Health@Com
Tampons are absolutely safe as long as you change them as directed, which it sounds like you are!. the "dirty blood" comes out regardless of whether you wear a tampon or pad and the body naturally cleanses itself anyways!. good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am almost as old school as your mother!. I am in my thirties!. !. Sex should be saved for marriage !. My husband has been my only one-forever and always!.
But tampons,!.!.!.sometimes people associate losing virginity by using tampons or using them may provoke a girl to want to start having sex!.
Using tampons does not make you lose your virginity even it your hymen does break, nor do I think by using them will elicit sexual behaviors!. Losing your virginity is if you had sex!.
As a mom myself, though I know I will have no issue with my daughter when she get's her menstration, a thought that comes into my mind is that her baby girl is blossoming into womanhood!. So instead of bashing her, maybe you should try empathize her!. I'm sure it's more about that than tss/germs!.
