Normal healthy Vaginas do have an odor, but many find it is a favorable smell!. Since none of us out here can determine if your discharge and odor are normal for a healthy vagina!. You should go to a doctor for an exam!. You can then discuss what might be normal and what is not!. Preferably an ob/gyn unless you only have access to a general practitioner!. The GP will refer you to an ob/gyn doctor if necessary!. A douche is not normally needed for a healthy vaginal canal, just soap and water for the labia and opening of the vagina!. Soap may get in your urethra and sting - if that happens then your are soaping too vigorously!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is NOT normal and you need to be diagnosed by a doctor to determine exactly what medications he/she would want to put you on!. In the meantime, not that I'm doubting that you practice good hygiene but, you have to be sure to shower or bathe in a tub every day!. All the external areas down there need to be kept clean too!.

Apparently, the people you have been asking don't really know and they just told you it's normal!. Maybe they have that too --- you can tell THEM it's not normal and they need to treat whatever is causing them to have that fishy odor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Normal vaginal discharge has several purposes: cleaning and moistening the vagina, and helping to prevent and fight infections!. Although it's normal for the color, texture, and amount of vaginal fluids to vary throughout a girl's menstrual cycle, some changes in discharge may indicate a problem!.

If you think you may have a problem, you should see a doctor as soon as possible!. First, though, it helps to learn some of the differences between normal and abnormal vaginal discharge!. This will help you to recognize changes that may occur!.

Normal vaginal fluids can vary somewhat in texture and color!. They can be somewhat thin, sticky, and elastic or thick and gooey!. Vaginal fluids should be clear, white, or off-white in color!.

It's important to keep an eye out for changes in vaginal fluids!. The following changes may indicate a problem:

change in odor (especially an unpleasant odor)
change in color or texture (especially greenish, grayish, or anything looking like pus)
vaginal itching, burning, swelling, or redness
vaginal bleeding or spotting that is not a menstrual period
Vaginal infections, such as bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis (yeast infection), and trichomoniasis are common causes of abnormal vaginal discharge!. Some infections are transmitted by having sex, such as gonorrhea!. Other infections can occur with or without having sex, such as bacterial vaginosis or a yeast infection!.

Although the symptoms of these infections can be very similar, there are some differences to look for:

Yeast infections may cause your discharge to become very white and thick, resembling cottage cheese!. A yeast infection usually does not cause a strong odor, but it may cause severe itching and burning!.
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) may cause your discharge to be heavier than usual!. The fluids may become foamy or frothy and grayish in color!. BV often causes vaginal fluids to have an unpleasant, fishy odor!.
Trichomoniasis, a common sexually transmitted disease (STD), may cause a musty, stale odor!. Discharge may become grayish or yellow-green and may become thicker!. Trichomoniasis also often causes vaginal itching and pain during urination!.
It's very important to see a doctor or go to a teen clinic if you have any of the symptoms of abnormal vaginal discharge!. This is really important for girls who have had sex, especially those who have had sex without using a condom, since many STDs cause changes in vaginal discharge!.

Honey, you need to go to your doctor and address it with them!. A foul smelling discharge could mean that you have an infection of some sort!. It could be true that your bodies normal discharge has a different smell than you would like or that you don't think is good, discharge does have different odors depending on time of month and other factors!. The bottom line is that only a doctor can tell you if your discharge is a sign of infection or if it is a normal for you thing!. Good luck and try not to stress over it!. As women we don't like to talk about these things but the truth is that at some point in every woman's life things will not be quite right - you are not alone or weird or gross, just get it checked and be sure that you are using proper hygene!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
