1st Trip to the GYNO office!

Question: 1st Trip to the GYNO office
So, I have never been to the Gyno's office before, and plan on going pretty soon to get a check up (not a pap smear or STD screening) but just a health check up and I was wondering if anyone has ever been to one before and what the check up was like for you!. I'm a little nervous about some stranger getting into the personal area, although it must be done, and was wondering if it was really as uncomfortable as you thought or whatever!.!.!.i'd like to hear the good or bad 1st time experience with the vagina doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i just did this last week and i was totally freaking out the night before and the whole time i was waiting for the appointment, but it turned out to be fine :) basically what theyll do (or what they generally do , and did for me at least) is take your weight, and ask you to pee in a cup!. After they check it to see if youre pregnant and see if you have any nitrate problems (urine infections etc)!. after theyll take your temperature and blood pressure and everything, and ask you about youre sexual history, smoking history, the usual!.

then the fun starts, they set up the room and then leave for a few minutes!. youll get undressed and put on a robe that opens to the front and has two little ties, and then a big sheet!. when the doctor comes back in you lay down on the bed thing, and they pull out two little footrest things from the bed!. you put your heels in these so your legs are spread really wide!. but the sheet is covering your lower half for now so its not that bad!.

then if its a pap test they put a little instrument inside of you that has a light on, and then press a button, and it expands, i can see how it would hurt a little but for me and most its just a little uncomfortable!. then they take some oversized qutips and take some samples from your vagina, to test for diseases and stds and cancer and all that!.

then if its a typical pelvic exam the doctor puts on gloves and puts some gel on their fingers and puts them inside you (not far) while pressing down on your lower stomach!. it only lasts a few seconds so dont worry! and if theyre a good doctor they will be talking to you the whole time so its less awkward!. after this theyll open the front of the gown and start feeling your breasts for lumps and cancer and probably teach you how to do it!.

it sounds like such torture i know! but its really all over in less than 5-10 minutes!. and its pretty educational haha, ask all the questions you have about your body and health, just think, if you have to go through it you might as well get everything you need/want to know out of it :)

haha really just relax and be distracted by talking with the doctor and it really wont be that bad!. and once its over youll feel ALOT better!

hope that helps, youll be fine!!!

i dont think it would matter if youve had sex or not because the instrument doesnt go in farther than the opening!. although i could be wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The first time is pretty uncomfortable!. The doctor should make you get naked and wear this paper front robe dealy!. She touches your boobies and looks for tumors!. Then she makes you lay down on the table and put your feet in stirrups and shines this huge dentist light on your privates!. She'll put on gloves, pour lube on your vagina and stick this weird sort of metal umbrella type instrument in there that she can crank and it opens it up and takes a peice of plastic and runs it along the inside of your vagina!. Then she takes that thing out and fingers you like SUPER deep and touches your cervix and pushes down on it from the outside with her other hand to check for cysts and other junk!. Then you're done and you drip lube for about 6 hours!. Have fun!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its okay!. It is a little personal though!. But thats what Doctors are there for!. There is nothing to worry about!. Your nerves will make everything seem worse if you worry about it!. And after your first appoitment you will be much more relaxed on any others that you have!. And you'll realize that it wasn't so bad!.

All they will do is the things that a normal doctor does!. Plus they will make sure you have no abnomalities in your breast, or in or around your "area"!. It is all kept very profesional!. They should give you a gown to put on backwards!. And a sheet to cover up with at all time!.

The only time you will uncover is for the breast exam and the other exam!. There is a nurse present at the time of the exam!. And if you are a minor your female gaurdian or mom will be in the room with you!.

Most times, the first gyn exam involves a PAP smear!.

I have had negative expereinces and regular expereinces but it doesnt take an incredibly long time!. It's not painful in most cases unless you have something wrong or pelvic pain!.

I went to get my pap last week and the speculum really hurt once it was open!. I have NEVER had such pain from it before!.!. really burned the whole time it was open and I'm not sure why but I should have said something to the doctor!.

It is a bit embarassing but the doctors are trained and they know how to handle it!. They often guide you along, are reassuring and try to make you as comfortable as possible!. It's a bit odd being in that position and having your areas touched and felt but it is over quite quickly and if they do a Pap, that really is like 3 minutes!.!.!.!. the whole exam is ussualy very fast even though when your nervois, it feels longer!. I think the worse part is scooching down the table and having to open my legs!. That's like the most vulnerable part for me but once Ive done it and work on relxing my pelvis, everything else goes fast and isn't so bad!.

Anyways, the doctor does a general exam of the body like listenign to your lungs and heart, palpating the stomach, etc so all of that i think helps some because yuou get to know them a little more while all of that is happening!.
