Hun there are a number of reason to get PID, the main one is bacteria and other germs as you already know, they can find there way through to the vagina and the cervix and cause inflammation, the most common one is infection of the fallopian tubes, sex isn't always the reason for PID, it can be down to termination of pregnancy or following child birth or sex with a new partner, but often no specific reason can be found, you are correct it could be down to your boyfriends hands not being clean, we all have germs on our hands, some worse than others, so be carefull next time, you will have to look after yourself very carefully from now on, make sure you both wash before any intercourse, the only other bit of info i want to give is, the most common bug to cause PID is chlamydia, but it isnt always sex that causes PID, ask your boyfriend to go get checked out, because if HE is the cause of infection it needs treating right away, dont have intercourse until he does, if its him then you will be reinfected and it could make you really poorly, good luck hun and hope this has helped!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

PID is usually caught through intercourse!. It originally starts as an STD!. When the STD is left untreated, no matter which disease, it spreads into the pelvis which is what leaves you with PID!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
