Usually every 4-6 hours!. Sometimes before depending on your flow!. NO more than 8 hours max because you can get Toxic Shock Syndrome!. Sometimes it's a good indicator when the beginning of the string turns a little red!*Www@Answer-Health@Com
ok first off the girl that said 8 hours is CRAZY and needs to learn to read directions and could get TSS which is a disease that the symtoms are much like a cold but can make you not be able to have kids the box says to change every four hours you dont have to change after every bath room break just when it feels funny which means it could be leaking or every four hours to keep it ffrom leaking or setting up infection just read the pamplet inside your tampon boxWww@Answer-Health@Com
I take mine out every 4 hours!. If you read the insert in the box it tells you not to leave a tampon in because of Toxic Shock Syndrome!.
Make sure you get the right tampon also!. If this is your first period You wont know exactly how much you bleed yet!. Later you will be able to tell what size tampon you need(regular,super)!. I can tell when I need to change mine because I usually get stomach cramps!. If you have older sister or some one you trust to talk to about this that would be your best bet!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you have a heavy flow you should take it out in 2-3 hours!.
if you have a medium flow you should take it out 4-6 hours!.
if you have a light flow or coming to the end of your period you should take it out in 6-8 hours maxium! if your going swimming put a new one in before you go into the pool!.!.

Do not leave it in for more than 8 hours, or you will get Toxic Shock Syndrome which is deadly!
Also, don't take it out before 4 hours, cause I find that it hurts if you take it out to early, like it feels "dry"!. Hope this helps! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your bleeding is heavy, you should change your tampon every 2-3 hours!. If it's light to medium!.!. every 4-6!. You don't want to sleep in a tampon!.!. use pads!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
