Question: Virgin getting a pap!?
I'm getting married in a few months and plan to go on the pill!. I'm very apprehensive about this whole thing, i want to know what to expect!. I am a virgin and am weighing the possiblity of having the Doc break my hymen, or will this happen when they swab me!? and do i need to make sure they know i am a virgin!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Make sure you tell them you are a virgin!. They have different sizes of speculums (what the use during the exam to get at your cervix)!. If they know you're a virgin they'll use a smaller one and take more care!.
I had irregular periods so I've had pap smears for the last 10 years and just got married and lost my virginity a couple months ago!.
I asked my doctor about having sex for the first time and he told me that since he'd been able to do pap smears that there shouldn't be a problem with having sex!. I think some doctors will offer to do something about your hymen, but mine said nothing needed to be done!. I wouldn't recommend asking them to do anything!. I did have some pain and bleeding on my wedding night, but it healed quickly and wasn't really that big an issue!.
For the pap smear, just try your hardest to relax!. Its not really going to hurt if they do it right, its more humiliating than it is uncomfortable!. Just take deep breaths and it'll be over in no time!. Best of luck to you!. There aren't many that wait until marriage, but I can't describe what a beautiful thing it is to give that gift to your husband!.

It might make things easier if you tell them you are a virgin so hopefully they will be more gentle with you! I would just tell them you are scared and just be honest!. It's okay to be worried before your first exam!.

If you aren't sexually active you won't get a pap smear!. After you become sexually active you will!. Although your age might determine whether or not you get one!.!.!. They will probably give you a pelvic exam!. If they do give you a pap, mention you are a virgin and they can use a smaller speculum!. If you use tampons than you probably already broke it!. I would let your doctor know that you are a virgin and that you have questions!. You wont be the first or last patient that they see that is one!. Don't be too nervous!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
