Can you lactate when not pregnant?!

Question: Can you lactate when not pregnant!?
I have a 9 mth old who I chose to bottle feed due to medications I was on at the time!. I have noticed colostrum leaking from both my breast, only started today, if I am pregnant then I would have only fallen in the last week so I imagine this would be far to soon!. Could this be left over from pregnancy 9 mth ago or could there be another reason for this!? Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Since you bottle fed exclusively (as did I, and for the same reasons as you), your milk should have dried up and stopped producing by 6-8 weeks postpartum!.

When you say it is colostrum leakage, I presume you mean it's clear, not milk consistency nor breast milk color!. That would be very unusual to happen 9 months postpartum!. Especially since after a few days to a week, even without breastfeeding, your breasts start to produce breast milk which eventually dries up!.

Also, since colostrum doesn't begin to produce and expel until late in pregnancy, if you were pregnant you'd have to be pretty far along!.

There are some things that can cause nipple discharge, certain medications, irritation, etc!.

I would bring it up with your OB!.
