Cold causes your blood vessels to shrink, allowing less blood flow!. Cold also causes muscles to tighten up!. If you already have cramps, tightened muscles will make the cramps worse!.

Instead of medication, try taking a hot bath (as hot as you can tolerate) or use a heating pad to deal with your cramps!. Heat relaxes muscles, which helps cramps!. Heat also has no side effects, which makes it infinitely better than medication!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Cold food doesn't bother me, but salty and sweet foods make my cramps worse!. At first I feel better, because I'm satisfying a craving!.
Then I realize that my cramps and/or the swelling I get around my chest and belly gets worse!. It's because salt and sugar cause water retention, and water retention causes more pain when you are already swollen!.

I'm thinking that she was referring to a discomfort that some people experience, when they eat something cold or hot, during a time when they are in pain due to swelling (cramps or preg)!.

It seems it is different with each person!.
Sometimes when I have my period and I'm in pain, I just want to sip a cup of warm tea!. Not too hot, but not cold- just right, so that it's comforting!. Other times, I want something cold that's also chocolate!.
During those times, I usually wind up getting a java chip frappuccino from Starbucks!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Eat warm food!. I find it more tasty, don't you!?
Also, when the full moon is risen, cold food is okay!. No other time during your cycle!.
Alas, I too have this problem!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
