I am so sorry that you do not have a Mom to answer these questions for you , it really depends on how much you are flowing , if it is not much , you can use a thin pad , at night use one that is longer & thicker so if you begin to flow more in your sleep , the brand is not really important , even the store brands are o!.k!. , I think even now they have thin , yet obsorbant , meaning you can use the same size for light to heavy flow , I saw a response from I guess a younger girl , they don't know it all , until you get used to having your monthly , just used a pad , the tampons can be very uncomfortable at first , but when you do start to use a tampon , you don't have to take it out to pee , like I thought when I was younger , it all comes from a different spot , so just keep it in and pee as ususal , if you start to flow heavy , and when you go to school , remember to keep some midol in your purse , to help with those cramps , & take a few extra pads with you , if you get tampons , they have instructions in the box , just go into the restroom at home , and read it in private , then when you are ready to use them , you can use both , tampons & pads , for school days , to make sure you don't get anything on your clothes , the pads have a peel off paper , and under that is sticky glue to stick to your underwear , some have , wings , that help keep them in place , I do not like the wings ,as the day goes by , sometimes they come loose , just from moving around , so the ones without wings seem to stay in place better without the extra wings !. I know you asked "girls only", but I am not going to let that stop me!. My wife is quite sensitive, and you wouldn't believe what companies put in there "sanitary" products!. Some products even have chemicals that increase blood flow so you use more of their product!

Also you should know that despite what most women think tampons aren't intended to be flushed!. I am in the construction business and our plumbers are often having to unclog drains because women are flushing tampons!

I use Always regular size 72 pads but they are great for me not to big not to small also get them with wings!. I hate tampons becuase im somtimes afraid the string might get stuck up there and sometimes its sorta gross because you got to stick your finger up there and its all bloody and all pads are great but tampons are better if your a sporty person its your choiceWww@Answer-Health@Com
Some girls cant use tampons, their flow is too heavy!. You can use a few different sizes through out your period, i!.e!. night for sleeping, heavy flow or med for the first few days!.!. and liners or light size for the periods ending days!.!. GOOD LUCK Www@Answer-Health@Com

how old are you!? If you are young then Always with wings--For tampons ask your mom she will tell you what is best!. Maybe you are not ready for tampons!. If you can't ask your mom than ask an adult in your family--cousin, aunt Www@Answer-Health@Com
