Any tips for a teacher with a weak bladder?!

Question: Any tips for a teacher with a weak bladder!?
I'm a third year middle school teacher I need to teach for 3 1/2 to 4 hours straight through with no bathroom breaks for me!. I feel like I get dehydrated during the school year because I don't drink anything at all during the school day!. When I do drink a bottle of water it goes straight to my bladder!. I feel very uncomfortable until I can get to a toilet!. Once last year I almost didn't make it to the bathroom at the end of the day!. I hate to stop liquids entirely, does anyone have any suggestions!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've taught grades 7-10 myself, so I know what you're going through!. From what you wrote, it doesn't sound like you have a weak bladder!. Most anyone after 3-4 hours would really need to pee, and sooner than that if they drank anything - that's normal!. You may also have the fear that one day you're going to pee your pants in front of your class!. This makes you feel even more uncomfortable than normal, especially if you've had a "close call"!.

So what do you do!? If being able to pee every couple hours makes you feel more "comfortable", do it!. Ask another teacher in an adjoining classroom to watch your class for a few minutes, and they should be glad to oblige - that's what we do at our school!. If that's not possible for some reason, go at the beginning of a class and just have the students talk quietly amongst themselves!.

Good luck, and please remember that some of your students might be in the same predicament, so in the same light, allow them permission to use the bathroom when they ask!.

You probably need to expand the size of your bladder by holding the urine despite a sense of urgency!. In time, your bladder will increase in size and you will be able to wait for longer periods without discomfort!.

Furthermore, doing this exercise will increase the strength of your bladder's sphincter muscles and prevent accidents as you get older!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In the middle of the class have something like a stretch break!. It can be as short as two mintues or as long as fifteen!. It can allow you to leave the classroom to do whatever you need to and leave a responsible student in charge!. The students can also go to the restroom or get a drink of water!. The students may talk but it MUST be a very low voice!.

Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
