How will I ever learn to accept this?!


Question: How will I ever learn to accept this!?
I am a 48 year old mother of 4!. When I was young(er) I was quite a looker!. 5'8" tall, measurements 38-26-37!. I had tons of dates in high school and never had a weekend without one!.

I married at 19 and had twins when I was 23!. I divorced at 24 and lost custody of my kids to my ex-inlaws because they had all the money in the world and I was homeless and on my own without anyone!. I moved in with a co-worker (a guy who was 19 and in college) as his father took pity on me!. That guy who was 19 and I got married 4 years later and are still married today!.

At one time, I was invited to the Playboy mansion and had a successful tryout for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders but decided not to take the position (that's definitely an 'aw-shucks'!

I am now the mother of 4 children; my 24 year old boy-girl twins, a 15 yr old son and a 12 yr old son!.

I love my husband to death but lately I can't get past the fact that I am not what I once was!.

I am very overweight and can't stand to look in a mirror at all anymore!. I had a picture of me and my husband taken at my 30th class reuinion 2 weeks ago and I can't even look at it!.

No one at my reunion recognized me, of course, because I was a hottie then and I'm a cow now!.

I am pre-diabetic because of my horrific pregnancies and poly-cystic ovarian disease!. I've tried losing weight, working out, and I can't ever keep more than 30 lbs off, just to gain it back!.

I get depressed, then I eat!. Then I get depressed because I ate the wrong thing!. So I eat some more!.

I've thought about having lapband surgery but I recently had abdominal surgery for adhesions so that may not be a good idea!.

Is there anyone out there with any advice!.!.!. I hate me anymore!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It all depends on your mindset!. People have to deal with **** about their lives and their bodies, and sometimes they can only do so much about it!. And that sucks!. You just have to stop thinking about it so much and start focusing on other things!. The less you dwell on what once was, the less depressed you'll be and the less junk food you'll eat!. You'll probably lose weight!.

A friend of mine is overweight because her thyroids are funky!. She doesn't eat a ton of junk food - she eats about as much as the average girl!. And she works out regularly, but she can't drop more than 10 pounds!. But she has a lovely face and enough confidence for 20 people!. To this day I haven't met anybody who's had half as many suitors as that girl does in a year!. And you know why she's so attractive!? It's cause she got over the fact that she'll never be skinny again!. She stopped pitying herself and feeling vain or depressed about it!. She focused on getting her life together, and if you were to tell her she was fat she'd flip you off and go back to whatever she was doing!. She LOVES her body!. She made a choice to change the way she looked at herself!.

That part's all up to you!. It's all on you!. If you're happy with yourself, it shows!. Honestly now, there are better things in life to occupy yourself with other than how you look in the mirror!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Oh hon your being to hard on yourself! True beauty comes from within!. Accept yourself for who you are!. just because your overweight doesnt mean your not beautiful!. Have you talked to your husband about this!? Hold your head up high! Walk with confidence!. You are who you are, learn to be happy with yourself!! You can do it girl!!!! Www@Answer-Health@Com

u sound like u have no self esteem, look what u have achieved u have 4 beuatiful children somethin some people can only dream 4, u have a husband u love-something else other people dream of having!. Why dont u join the gym or go for a walk for 1 hour a day excerise realises hormones'feel good' hormones which can really help!. U say ur depressed why dont u try talking to someone like a counsilor!? alot of people go and c them to talk things thru and work thru it and they really do help
remember u have a family which u sound very proud of so focus on it :-) they love u for u, well never look how we used to look thts what happens in life but focus on ur strengths not ur weaknesses all the time

Sounds like you feel like you have lost control!. Make the decision to change a few things!. First off, you should try reading a soul-searching type book, I liked Sylvia Browne's "A Soul's Perfection"!. Reading is a great way to be able to see things in a different light outside of your friends & family!. Also, reading stimulates the brain and is good to do before you go to bed, gets your mind off of the negative thoughts you may have!.

Also, if you have a relationship with a higher power!.!.!.pray!.!.!.and don't just ask for things, also thank the higher power for the blessings that you have already been given!. Remember, there are people that are at a worse place than you!.

Next, eating right!.!.!.soooooo important! How to lose weight!.!.!.very simple actually!. It does take dedication and determination, but once you get into the routine it becomes a way of living!.

First tip: eat six smaller meals a day -- so every three hours, you should be having a small meal!. !.!.!.AND TAKE A Multi-VITAMIN

Here's your example meal plan:

Breakfast 7:00a!.m!.: 1cup whole wheat/whole grain cereal !.!.Kashi has good for you cereal
1 cup skim milk for the cereal
1 cup of watermelon
1 cup green tea (Celestial Honey Lemon Ginseng seems to be my fav)

drink water

Snack: 10:00a!.m!.: Adkins shake - choc!. is best
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
drink water

Lunch: 1:00 p!.m!.: sandwich
(use deli meat!.!.has less sodium than packaged meat/or a pkg of tuna)
1 slice of lite bread for the sandwich, 40 calories (read the labels)
1 cup of lettuce/10 olives/use very little dressing if any at all!.!.!. I use olive juice or cottage cheese instead of dressing, and a 1/2 tomato sliced!.!.!.basically create a small salad and watch the toppings!.!. use lite cheese and not a lot of it!.!.!.!.
1 cup of green tea
drink water

Afternoon snack 4:00p!.m!.: 1 serving of baked chips
1 apple (or 1/2 cup of any other type of fruit)
1 cup yogurt



Dinner 6-7:00 p!.m!.: 5 oz of grilled chicken
1 small potato (you can melt a piece of lite cheese on top!.!.!.and a little sea salt and a few sprays of "I can't believe it's not butter)
1 cup steamed broccoli or any other veggie
DRINK WATER!!!!



If you need something before you go to bed!.!.!.drink a small glass of skim milk and have a handfull of baked chips!.!.

The basic plan and some examples!.!.!.:
2 servings of protein - turkey, chicken, tuna, fish, etc!.!.!.
3 servings of veggies - broccoli, beans, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, etc!.
3 servings of fruit - apples, watermelon, grapefruit, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, pears, plums!.!.!.etc!.
1 serving of fat - olives, sprays of lite butter, using olive oil to cook, condiments
2 servings of dairy - cheese, milk, yogurt, cottage cheese!.!.etc!.
make a meal diary (like the one above) pre make your meals the night before if you go to work!.!.!.this makes life sooooo easy!.

The green tea has a little caffein if you want or you can get caffein free green tea!.!.!.but it seems to give me energy and just makes your body feel good during the day!.!.do not drink at night as this can keep you awake and make it difficult to sleep!.

Next: Exercise -- I don't care how much you have going on!.!.!.this is very important!.!.!.begin slow!.!.!.don't burn yourself out!.!.!.!.
I designated 1 hour to work out 4-5 days a week to do any of the following walk/run/jog on my treadmill!.!.!.you can do this outside as well!.!.!. 20-30 minutes for cardio and the rest for strengthening/yoga!. The key is you have to get your heartrate up and break a sweat!. !.!.!.as it gets easier!.!.!.increase either the speed or the length of time for cardio!. Example of strengthening exercises, 10reps, 3 sets of!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.examples: yoga, pushups, lunges, crunches, squats!.!.!.that should be a good start!.!.!.
DRINK WATER!!!

Follow the above, and I guarantee!.!.!.you will increase your energy, you will feel better meantally and physically!.!.!.and!.!.!.you WILL LOSE WEIGHT!. No doubt about it!. !.!.!.just do it, why not!?!?!?

Growing up is a b---, isn't it!?

That's not a sneer, it's a fact!. When we reach a certain, well, majority, we lose what we once had!.

However, if we look for it, we find that we've gained what we needed but couldn't have before!.

Let me guess--some of your feelings are caused by a very human condition: we see only what we recognize!. Once upon a time you were "a looker!." That was wonderful, and I'm really glad for you that you were!.

But if I read your post aright, your looks were what you were!. That is, you decided that, since you were good-looking, that would be what you made your identity!. "I am my looks" isn't what you actually said to yourself, but that's the way you thought!.

So now you are older, and you don't look as you once did, so now you don't know how to think of yourself!. You've lost yourself since you've lost your young looks!.

But I have seen many beautiful 48-year-old women!. They were not the beauties that they were when they were 20, but they were quite striking and very good looking!. I'll bet you could be one of them if you tried!. But to be one, you'll need to change something in your head!.

There are two things I'd like you to try:

1!. Take a few days and think seriously about the question "Who am I!?" So far you appear to be thinking about who you are not!. If you love your husband, and if you love your children, if you have some good friends, if you have a good home, then you have many blessings in your life already, but it sounds' as though you don't think about that much!. Perhaps you should!. But there are other parts to your life that you still need to recognize!. Find out what they are, and realize that tehy are as much a part of you as your looks once were!.

You still are blessed, your blessings have just changed!. You need to recognize them before you will see them!.

OK, so you are not who you were when you were in school!. Who are you now!?

And please, do NOT get stuck answering this question with the pseudo-answer "I am worse than what I was," because that's not actually an answer, it's really only a story you tell yourself!. The Roman historian Tacitus said that the Roman people made stuff up and believed it!. That's what you've been doing with this "I'm bad!. I'm worse than I once was!." No, you aren't worse!. You are only different, just like the rest of us!. But some of that difference is better!. What is it!?

2!. Sit down with a pencil and paper!. Ask yourself the question, "What is my purpose in life!?" and start writing whatever comes to mind!. It's like a quiet, solitary brainstorming session!. Keep at it until you write something that truly grips you, that you stare at on the paper and realize that that is how you want to live your life!.

Then start doing whatever you need to to do that!.

Now, understand that you will never be 21 again, so there is no reason that you should set yourself up for failure (you are demanding of yourself what is impossible!. That's terribly unfair to yourself!. You wouldn't do that to your kids!. So why to yourself!?) by telling yourself you should be!. But you are who you are!. Somebody loves you, and does so for a reason!. Find out what that reason is, and decide that you will lose weight for them as well as for your own health!.

Never, ever diet in order to lose weight!. Change your diet in order to be healthy!. Find the right lifestyle, including the right diet, for yourself!. Find the diet (vegetarian!? piscatarian!? It almost doesn't matter as long as it's a healthy one) that helps you lose weight--and make the scales your friend here--and eat however little you need to lose weight and to maintain it!. It will be a change, but change can be an adventure if you let it!.

In fact, your whole life can be an adventure if you let it!.

you should try something new!. like knitting, or yoga, or the piano or something!. you really should to try to lose weight because you might feel a whole lot better if you do!.
when you feel the need to eat dont!. or have water or something
