Spotting and cramping EVERY MONTH before my period....Normal?!

Question: Spotting and cramping EVERY MONTH before my period!.!.!.!.Normal!?
I used to never spot before my period!. I am 19 years old and for the past 3 or 4 months now at least i have been spotting dark brown blood before my period!. It used to happen randomly, but never every month, and now its every month!. It started off as just the day before, and now its anywhere from 4-7 days before!. i started spotting on Tuesday (8-12-08) and i am not due to start my period until Tuesday (8-19-08)!. I am a little nervouse that this may mean something!. With the spotting i also experience some really painful cramping, but its not like the cramps when i have my period it more off the the side where like your hib bone sticks out in the front!. I am supposed to have my anual check up/ Pap Smear tomorrow but i dont know i can get it done with this spotting!. and i am going back to college next friday and wont have time to wait to make an appointment when i am off!. So my question is, should i be conserned about the spotting and cramping so early and can i still get my pap done with the spotting!? I am on Birthcontrol and need it refilled but can't get it until i get the pap!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Spotting and cramping is totally normal!. Our bodies are always changing so often our PMS symptoms will reflect that as you see they change also!.

The cramping is your uterus preparing to shed its linning, some women dont get any cramps and some women get painful cramps the days leading up to their periods, it varies with all women!.

Since you are spotting 4-7 days before your period your progesterone levels might be a little lower than normal, still nothing to be concerned about!. But the spotting will not effect you getting a pap done (trust me gyno's have seen it all!)

The spotting might also be a side effect of your birth control!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, don't worry!. It's natural especially with the cramping!.

At least your not cramping to the point your bottom half is trying to seperate from the rest of your body!. Girl, you should see me every month!. I'm 36 and I've been going to through this sense I was 13!.

my periods always announced themselves that way!.!.!.usually a week before it would start for real I'd get one day of barely there spotting and mild on and off cramps!.!.!.!.it's normal, And don't expect your periods to remain the same as when they first started!.!.!.!.!.

you might have a cyst on your ovary which could explain the side pain!.!.!.!.always best to have any changes checked out by the gyno!.!.!.!.!.keep the appointment!. A pap might not be feasable but a pelvic exam is!.!.!.!.!.good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
