Answers:
it is now 25!. Your GP(general practitioner) or hospital should send you a notice when you should get it done but if you are younger than 25 and just want one done to be safe then just book an appointment at your local clinic!. no it shouldn't hurt really its just uncomfortable if it is tell whoever is doing your smear and they should adjust it to make it more comfortable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A Pap smear is usually done for the first time at age 16 or 18, depending on your medical history!. However, if you are sexually active, it's recommended to have them twice a year!. If something irregular is noticed after a test, then most likely you will have to get one every three months to be sure any medication or treatment is working!.

A lot of women's first test hurt, but it's really not a horrible pain!. The scapula (an instrument used to widen the vaginal opening) is about 2 inches in diameter, and you'll hear a clicking noise as the doc opens it up!. If you've not had sex yet and don't use tampons on a regular basis, it might hurt a little having something up there for the first time!. The key is to relax (I know, easier said than done)!. The doc will swab inside for tests and then remove the scapula!. Most likely the doc then will use her fingers inside and push down on your stomach to feel your ovaries!. After that you're all done!.

It's an unfun part of being a girl, but you get used to it!. :) Make sure you find a doc that you're very comfortable with, and don't hesitate to ask for a nurse to be present!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You start having smear tests done when you are sexually active!. You have them done every 3 years!. In our local practice it is done by a nurse and although it doesn't hurt it is a little uncomfortable, but necessary!.
I have to have a smear test done every year because I had pre cancerous cells found during a routine smear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

im not sure where ur from but in australia its from the time you become sexually active and then every 2 years!. As long as u relax it wont hurt it is a pretty embarrasing thing to have to go thru but its over with in a matter of minutes an when u think of what u could be preventing its all worth a few minutes of embarassment!. Just go to a doctor that u trust and feel comfy with!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Its 25 in England and Wales 21 In Scotland!.
They will send you a letter to ask you to make an appointment at your doctors!. If you want one now you could ask your doctor they should be able to put you forward for one, if they don't you can go private!.

When you become sexually active and every 3 years after that!. Once you have had the first one you will not be contacted again (after the results) for another 3 years!. Just had mine on Tuesday and its not sore!. The wee instrument thing she puts inside you to open you up is cold but its not sore!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
