Do women's nurse practitioners (WNP's) mess with alot of needles and cut!

Question: Do women's nurse practitioners (WNP's) mess with alot of needles and cutting!? !?
I am thinking about applying to accelerated WNP programs (for persons with a bachelors degree in another field) but can't stand needles and cutting!. I have always gone to a WNP versus a physician and she always had a nurse (like a LPN or RN) come in to give me a shot or take blood!.All she did was look over my file, ask questions, do a pap smear, breast exam, sonogram, etc!. I think I could handle giving shots, but not taking blood or cutting skin, like an episiotomy!. So tell me, if I were a WNP, would I have to get over that stuff!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I am interested in this field as well!. Right now I am in an accelerated BSN/RN program!. WNPs do plenty of cutting and needle work (i!.e!. with STDs, burning/scraping/popping/freezing sores)!. They also take blood i!.e!. for pregnancy tests!. I think you could adjust to it though!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you may eventually end up in a position where you would not have to do those types of things, however during your clinicals you would be required to at least do some injections, possibly drawing blood, among other things!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, nurse practitioners perform minor procedures such as episiotomys, biopsys, etc!. all of which use needles and scalpels for cutting!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
