I'm 14 years old. Is it okay for me to go on birth control?!

Question: I'm 14 years old!. Is it okay for me to go on birth control!?
Like I said, I'm fourteen and I really want to go on birth control because my periods are usually really heavy, and almost every month I get two periods!. So is it okay for me to go on birth control!? Also, I'm not really sure what kinds of birth control there is or what it entails, so any additional info would be great!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is not a question you settle by taking a poll at YA!. This is a decision that is made after you see and speak with a gynecologist, dear!. If your periods haven't been happening for at least two years, the doctor isn't likely to be in favor of the idea!. Your body is still getting everything coordinated to make the monthly cycle happening, and it's best if it's given the chance to do that!. If there really is a problem, then a short course of birth control might be in order- but the choice of that is best left the the doctor with the training and expertise to make the call!. Birth control pills vary in hormones and combinations, it's not one size fits all like pantyhose!. What works for one lady may not be suitable for another!. The other thing you need to take into consideration is the length of time you would take them!. The longer you take hormonal BCP, the more likely it is to affect your fertility!. So if you go on BCP now at 14, getting pregnant at 25 might not be so easy!. Not to mention the effects on you otherwise after taking them for over a decade!. Your body might not know what to do at that point, if it's never given the chance to do it!. There are other solutions to your problem besides birth control, but to find them you will need to see a doctor first!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is a perfectly normal reason for going on birth control!. That's why I did and I was most definitely not doing it because I was going to have sex!. The doctor will determine what they think is the best birth control for you after they ask about your symptoms!. There are numerous different kinds of pills, but they all work the same: Take the pill at the same time everyday, once you are done with a pack the next day you start your next one!. There is the Nuva Ring: You put it in your vagina for three weeks and take it out for a week and dispose of the used ring!. Then you start a new one on the same day you took it out a week later!. There is also the patch, implant, and shot!. I have never tried them, but I've heard negative reviews about the shot (mainly weight gain)!. So talk to your mom about setting up an appointment with the gynecologist!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can choose what you will as you go through life, but if you believe drug companies that make those products care about you or your health, you need to free yourself from the lies you believe!. The endocrine is a system of complex relationships in your body!. Birth Control is hormone therapy and works by changing your "feed back loop" used by your body to do many functions as well as control your ovaries!. Taking that garbage does affect you and you will pay a price for using it!. Just ask yourself why so many women are having hormonal problems in America today!. Many problems that are not being associated with birth control pills are happening and you won't get that information in the literature found in the package of pills!. If it is truly controlling "birth," there are many other ways to accomplish this issue!. If it is for some other reason, I would not listen to doctors or drug companies that do not understand how the body works nutritionally and have a financial incentive to recommend that junk!.

good luck to youWww@Answer-Health@Com

By all means get information from your doctor on this!. I went on the depo shot at 14 due to the same reason!. It did help the problems, but I also ended up pregnant at 16 while on birth control!. It is no one's business as to what you are doing, there are many girls out there even younger than you doing things they shouldnt!. Being responsible should not be a reason for being ooked down on!. Do what you need to do for your body and yourself, just check with a doctor or family planning for more information!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yeah , it's fine to go on birthcontrol !. since i started using it my period has started to regulate !. i didn't used to get it every month and they would last about eight days and be really heavy !. now i get it every 28-30 days for about five days !. funfunfun !. lol !. i would say that the only negative thing about it is that it will make you gain weight !. everybody i know who's on it has gained weight !. i use ortho tricycolen lo !. it's probably the first thing your doctor will put you on !. :]Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is absolutely fine for you to go on birth control!. Sex or no sex that part is your business!.
The part you may not like is that most doctors who give out birth control want to do a Pap smear, or a "female physical" It doesn't matter if you are having sex or not!. That would be quite painful for someone who hasn't had sex!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've had multiple friends go on the pill because of this problem!. You are not alone, just ignore the insensitivity of others!. Talk to your mother about it first, birth control works as a hormone balancer which can regualte your period and clear up acne!. It does not have only one use!. Feel free, its your body!. Goodfor you being mature and safe as well :]Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with you about the declining of America!.!.!.
Talk to your mom and doctor about it, I think it should be fine!.
But here's something to be concerned about, WHAT IF your mom thinks that you're lying and just getting it so you don't get pregnant!? Just something to think about, haha!.

Good luck to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't know WHY men are posting in WOMENS health!.!.!.!.anyways, birth control may seem like a good option, however it would be better for you to check with your doctor before starting on it!. You don't want to mess up anything related to your body; play it safe!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is safe, but from my own experice, go on low-dose birthcontrol, because you body will change and you do get A LOT of mood changes so low-dose is your best bet!. Dont use it for longer than 5 years because it can cause infertility allthough is very rare!. On the good side if you start having sex your going to be pregnancy-free!.
