Average woman's knowledge about the morning-after pill?!

Question: Average woman's knowledge about the morning-after pill!?
I'm currently a virgin, but I've recently been looking into contraceptive options for when I DO lose my virginity!. I don't want to start using birth control pills, for fear that my mother will become suspicious (I'll be 18 soon, but I'm still living under her roof for another year)!. I've decided that condoms are a must, but I want a back-up plan in case a condom doesn't work -- my sister became pregnant when the condom her boyfriend used broke!. I've done light research on the morning-after pill, but I want to know what's it's all about from women who have used it!. If you've used a morning-after pill, please tell me about obtaining them!. I know they are under-the-counter products at pharmacies, but how do you ask for them!? How much did it cost!? What side effects did you experience, if any!? Thank so much in advance if you can answer any of these questions!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had to take my cousin to get EC once!. It's a really easy process actually!. Find the nearest Planned Parenthood location to you!. They are the easiest to deal with, the most understanding, and the most confidential!. You can use it and it will be effective 5 days after you had unprotected sex, but it's most successful within 3 days!. If you are younger than 18 when you need it, you'll need to go to a health center or private health care provider for a prescription!.

"The cost of emergency contraception varies a great deal, depending on where you go and what services you need!. Plan B may cost anywhere from $10 to $45!. One packet of birth control pills that can be used as emergency contraception may cost from $20 to $50!. If you are not 18 and need a prescription, the health care visit may cost anywhere from $35 to $250, depending on where you live!."

There are some nasty side effects!. My cousin was pretty much down for about 10 hours with stomach pains!. (she played it off as eating something bad to her mom)!.

First of all, you are not supposed to use this as a form of regular birth control, you use it if the condom breaks, certainly not after every time that you have sex, this could inflict long term damage upon your body!. So it is an emergency thing only!. It is usually around 45 dollars, and just ask the pharmacist for emercency contraception or Plan B!. And I had no side effects when I used it, it is pretty safe!. But please only use it in the case of an emergency!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are more options out there than the pill and EC! For example, their is a hormone shot available at many women's health clinics that lasts for three months and leaves behind zero signs that you are on birth control!. Try the planned parenthood website and really look at all the options!.

P!.S!. Emergency Contraception is for emergencies only! It may not be 100% effective and as a result (and for many other reasons) should not be used regularly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you have to take the pill within 72 hours of having sex and of course like with any other birth control pills there are side effects!. Also I believe that in some states if you are 17 or younger you have to have a prescription and it will cost you around 50 dollars!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It cost from 50-70 dollars
Um you have to get them from a pharmicist unless you get them from some pace like Planned parenthood
they Kind of make ur head a little but thats all Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok, I've never used the morning after pill, but I have a friend who has used it several times!.!.!.just because her husband said he made her pregnant the night before!.!.!.nto that he could have known!.!.!.it was 50ish dollars!. Expensive for each time and it is essentially aborting a baby if you were indeed pregnant!.!.!.it is irresponsible to use it frequently as if it were just any birth control!. You are almost 18!.!.!.doesn't matter if your mother is suspicious!.!.!.you are old enough to make this descision yourself and old enough to not fear your mother!.!.!.your mother should be glad you would take the responsability to use the pill!. If you think she would have a problem with you taking the pill and having sex, how do you think she'd react to you, having sex, not being prepared and beomcing an unwed mother!. but just so you know, when you have sex!.!.!.no matter how much protection you use!.!.!.you do always run the chance of getting pregnant!. Having sex is a responsabilty not to take lightly!. I am guessing by your question that your mother doesn't talk to you about such things and I am a mother of two teenage daughters, we are very open about sex, drugs and any number of teen issues!. Please!.!.!.feel free to message me if you would like someone to talk to or ask questions of!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I took it when i lived in New Zealand!.!.!. I could get it from my health nurse for free or pay $35 from the pharmacy!. If you get it from the pharmacy they will ask you when your last period was and some other general questions!. I had bad nausea for a few days!.!. You shouldnt use it as a back up method, its not good to take all the time!.!. you should talk to your doctor about the pill or another form of birth control!.!. Also when you are 18 you can make your own decisions, your mum cant tell you what to do once you turn 18!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had a boyfriend with a big penis!. Our condoms broke a few times!. The morning after pill is 99% effective if taken straight away then becomes less effective however later taken during the 72 hr period!. I got pregnant 1 time out of 5, when I took it about 46 hrs after!.
If the condom does break, make sure you get it ASAP!.
I can't remember how much they cost, it's not heaps though!. You just ask to speak to the pharmacist and tell him what happened!. He will ask you about your period cycle to establish whether you are at risk of becoming pregnant, then give you the pills if need be!.
I had no side effects except just mildly felt funny in my stomach!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
