Answers:
TSS is easy to avoid: just never leave any tampon inside you for more than 6 hours!.

The "slim" or "junior" ones with plastic applicators *definitely* make things easier for girls who've never used tampons before!.!.!. but once you know how, anything that's comfortable to wear will be easy to insert!.

Helpful advice (beyond the semi-useless package directions)!? Yeah!.!.!. just three things:

1) Aim the tampon more towards your back than upwards!.!.!. your vagina actually goes *back* for more than half of its length, not just up!.!.!. and push it in as far as the applicator will go while you're still holding the end of it!.

2) It'll be easier to do the first time if things are slippery "down there", so don't wipe away any blood and stuff until you've got the tampon in place!. If there's very little blood there, just smear a couple of drops of saliva on the tip of the tampon (or its applicator if it has one) and it'll make things a lot more comfortable!. No vaseline! Your vagina can't rinse it out easily and it can make a nice home for infections!.

3) Relaxation is **important**!. If relaxing isn't easy for you, try pushing just a little bit as if you're trying to poop or pee!.!.!. your pelvic muscles will relax a bit and that will help a *lot*!.

There's an OK video instruction about it at

Make absolutely sure that you are putting it in the right hole!.

If you are, and it still hurts, there are several things you can try!. You could try using putting some KY Jelly on the end of the tampon!. You could try switching to a tampon with a plastic applicator!. Or you could try switching to a smaller size tampon!. If you are still unable to do it, and are a virgin, your hymen opening may be too small to use tampons!.

To prevent Toxic Shock Syndrome you should use the smallest absorbency tampon you can get away with!. You should change your tampon every four to eight hours!. If you are leaking before four hours, you need a larger absorbency!. If after eight hours, your tampon is not fully soaked, you need a smaller absorbency!. You should also switch between pads and tampons!. Try using tampons during the day and pads at night!. And if you have the symptoms of Toxic Shock (they are listed in the booklet in the tampon box), remove the tampon and go to the emergency room immediately!. Tell the doctors that you were using a tampon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

1) Make sure to relax!. You might be tensing up as you insert it, so try to relax as much as possible!. Pay attention to your breathing, if you aren't breathing regularly and calmly, you are probably tensing up!.

2) Consider using a little lube!. Someone suggested KY, but Vaseline works just as well and is probably more easily accessable for you!. Take a tiny, tiny amount and rub it on the shaft (not the head!) of the tampon!. Make sure there are no globs!.

3) Point the tampon upwards inside you!. Your vagina goes up and back!.

4) Use the smallest size!. Try Tampaz Pearl Junior or Tampon Slender Regular!.

5) Try a few different positions and pick the most comfortable one!. Try sitting on the toliet with your legs apart, leaning back slightly!. Try standing up with one foot on the tub or toliet!.

As for TSS- the main thing is to use the lowest absorbancy that works for you and not wear it too long!. You shouldn't be wearing 1 tampon all day, 5-8 hours is enough!. TSS is really rare, so don't worry too much!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try only inserting the tampon when you have your period, so there is at least SOME lubricant there!.
If not, put some vaseline around the area before inserting it!.
Also, make sure you're in a good position!. Put one leg up on your tiolet seat!.
And I know it sounds crazy, but if you move your fingers around up there before putting it in, in makes it easier!. Also, you can use your finger to push it up there a little more if you need to!. Just wash up, lol!.

And TSS is so rare, it only happens when you leave your tampon in a VERY long time, and it'll only happen if the infection gets there!.
Trust me, don't worry!. I leave mine in when I sleep and I'm fine :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is easier to get a tampon in when u have a heavy flow!.!.!.to make it easier to slide up u could try putting vaseline on it and it will slide up easier!.!.!.u just have to push it up and it should go right in!.!.!.toxic shock syndrom is very rare so i wouldnt really worry about thatWww@Answer-Health@Com

read the directions and if it doesn't go up you should try a lighter tampon for lighter periods!. and you can prevent toxic syndrome from not wearing a tampon for over 6 hours or when you are sleeping at night-you should wear pads at nightWww@Answer-Health@Com
