Name of this type tumor?!
Question: Name of this type tumor!?
A young girl at my church, (17) had surgery this morning to remove a tumor from the "ovarian/uterus area" measuring approx!. 13 centimeters!. The doctors said it was more than likely benign and called it a type of tumor which name begins with a D!. I have never heard of this type of tumor and cannot remember the exact name!. Does anyone know what I am talking about and if so, is there a link I can go to to do a bit more research about his type tumor!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Epithelial ovarian tumors are derived from the cells on the surface of the ovary!. This is the most common form of ovarian cancer and occurs primarily in adults!.
Germ cell ovarian tumors are derived from the egg producing cells within the body of the ovary!. This occurs primarily in children and teens and is rare by comparison to epithelial ovarian tumors!.

There are various reasons for ovarian tumors, impossible to diagnose without further info!. It could be hormonal, hereditary, eitehr way, sounds horrible for a young girl to go through!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
