Hi, I just turned 12 and I'm only 4 feet 6 and 1/2 inches!. I know it's really short, but my mom's only 5 feet!. Will I probably be taller then this!? And how do I know when I'm going through a growthspurt!?

You are shorter than average for your age, but there are plenty of girls at my daughter's school (she is 12 and 1/2 years old) who are about your height!. Most of them are considered "cute" and "petite," but it's okay if you don't feel good about your height!. Have you started your period yet!? That's when most girls have a growth spurt!. If you have a growth spurt, you'll find that you are much hungrier than usual, and it's possible that you will have "growing pains" in your legs and/or arms!. This is just something that my girls went through though - not everyone goes thru it!. I would really think that since your mom is 5 feet that you will at least get to that height by the time you are 18!. I'm not a doctor, so I can't give you a definitive answer!. Also, look in your baby book and see what your height was when you were two years old, then double it!. Many pediatricians say that this is a good indicator of your adult height (give or take and inch or two)!. BTW, I was about 5 feet 5 inches when I was 14, and I started my period when I was 14, and I grew another three inches after that! Yep, I'm 5'8!. I sometimes wish that I were shorter, but I guess that no woman is ever really happy with her height, weight, appearance, etc!. Sometimes I feel like a freakin amazon! LOL!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Ok your growth plates do not close until you are 18 for girls and around 20 for boys!. You are only 12 and have years to go!. My mother is 5' 1" and I am 5'8"!. I hope this helps you a little!. It is not the size of the person that counts, it is what the person is inside!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

When you go throught the growthspurt, you might feel a little different and you will look taller!. Your mom will know!.
You are most likely to be around 5ft-5'5!.

Girls grow until they're about 16-18!.
I'm 4"10 and I'm 14 years!. But my parents are short!.

Its all about genetics!. If your mom is 5 feet, you are most likely to be five feet ((or higher)) also!. You will probably have a growth spurt when you start your period!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Most girls will continue to grow for one year after the period begins!. At that time you probably be at your maximum height!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it depends how tall your dad is but since your mom is that short you will probably be shortWww@Answer-Health@Com
