I think you should call your doctor!. I didn't have any bleeding at all when I had mine put in, but I know every woman is different!. Anyways, I was put on antibiotics last week for an infection and was doing some research on line to see if Mirena was like the pill, where when you take the antibiotics, it makes the pill lose it's effectiveness!. I found all kinds of horror stories from women who had bad reactions to the IUD!. If I had read it all before I got mine, I may have thought twice! Not trying to scare you, but just Google Mirena and bleeding and see what comes up!. Good luck and I hope your bleeding stops! So far, I have had zero problems with mine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It IS a good form of birth control!. A lot of women experience irregular bleeding for the first six months after they have one inserted!. I got my Paraguard three weeks ago and I am still spotting!. What you are reporting sounds fairly normal, I have heard that if you can get past the first six months, the copper one is nine and a half years or good reliable BC, and the Mirena four and a half years!. I wouldn't worry too much about it, six months is the adjustment period for your body, so try and tough it out, if you can!. Try to take NSAID pain relievers for the cramps(Ibuprofen advil, motrin, naproxen sodium is really good) and if you experience REALLY heavy bleeding, contact your doctor!. Here is a good website for IUD users, I go there alot http://community!.livejournal!.com/iud_div!.!.!.
good luck!!:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have the Mirena!. I've had it about as long as you!. Do you have the Mirena or the copper T!?!? In other words-- hormonal or non hormona;!?

They told me to expect light bleeding for 4-8 weeks or so while my body adjusts, because they said one of the ways it works is that it sheds the lining of your uterus so that is very, very thin, which is why you are bleeding!. I've spoken to people personally and they said all the symptoms you have are normal and that they will go away in a month or two!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Irregular bleeding is common in the early months after insertion because endometrial suppression takes several month to achieve!. Once this happens the irregular bleeding should decrease!. However, some women may have heavier and more crampy periods while they have the IUD!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
