How does the Nuva Ring work?!
Question: How does the Nuva Ring work!?
I went to my doctor about birth control and she suggest the Nuva Ring and I went home and researched but I don't quite understand how it works!. I understand it's birth control but how do you put it in and how can you still have sex with it in!? And to people that have it, does it help your periods!? The reason I would like birth control is because I get cramping so bad that I wake up in the middle of the night crying and have missed classes when regular PMS medication wont work!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm on it and love it!. You slimply squeeze it and slide it in as far as it will go!. Mine doesn't go in very far but my doctor said its in far enough!. When its time to come out you hook your finger in and pull it out!. You just leave it in for 3 weeks and then take it out for a week to have your period!.
I don't normally feel mine, but during sex I do!. You can have sex with it in, but it actually rubbed me really bad, so I take mine out to have sex!. You can take it out for as much as 3 consecutive hours!. Mine is usually out for less than 1 and I simply say that its 3 hours period in a 24 hour period of time!.
My periods are shorter, but I've never had significant cramping, I get back aches and since going off depo I've become nausous and actually thrown up!. I've started taking midol again and just get a little dizzy (I hate muscle relaxers)!.
But I love it, I have no bad side effects, but I have heard of the usual, nausea, weight gain, breast tenderness!.!.!. from different women!. Give it a shot!. I went to planned parenthood and they didn't show me how to do it, they just gave me a sheet of paper (I hadn't made a decision when I saw my doctor and didn't want to tell my parents why I needed another visit a week later) but I did see her a week after that for gardisil and she said I had done it right!. The nuva ring looks like a condom that hasn't been rolled out yet and doesn't have anything on the inside of it!.
You simply insert it by pushing the ring (when folded or pinched) into your vagina until you can not feel it outside of the body!. It doesn't have to be perfect and the way your body is it will position it for you!. There isn't any danger of it "being lost inside of you", but if you still feel it inside of you, push it up further into the vagina!.
It also has a steady-release birth control in it!. Having sex with it in does nothing and you nor your partner should feel it!. Only a few do!.

NuvaRing release a low dose of hormones to prevent your periods(ovulation)!. Once it is inside your vagina, it release chemicals and through the vaginal wall and the surrounding tissues the chemicals get into your body and regulate your periods!.
This is a type of birth control!.
