Any gynos or doctors out there that can help me?!

Question: Any gynos or doctors out there that can help me!?
I am 5 days into my "reminder pills" now, and still without a period!. My cycle has always been regular, even without taking birth control!. I'm about to be starting my third pack of Ortho Cyclen!. About half way through my 2nd pack, I fell ill and began taking amoxicillin!. I only took about 5 pills though!.!.!. I wasn't informed that this would cause my birth control to be ineffective, so I had unprotected sex a couple times while I was taking the amoxicillin!. I'm aware that there's a chance I could be pregnant, but I'm wondering if there's any chance the amoxicillin could cause my period to come late, instead of a pregnancy!. I was told [by a friend] that I'm probably not pregnant and that my cycle will go back to normal after my third pack!. I'm scheduled to have a check up and pap test after my third pack, so I'll be seeing a doctor by that time anyway!.!.!.

So, is there any way can this be a late period due to medication!? Or more likely pregnancy!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
I see 2 things: either you are pregnant, consider is as a real possibility, or the Amox caused a hyper or superinfection, and is causing the period to be late!. You will definitely want that pap test!. Antiobiotics often cause superinfections, maybe you should look it up!. You don't want to be extraordinarily infected there!.

It possible that ur antibiotics are changing ur period but I would have thought it would be more likel that ud have earlier spotting than no period at all!.!.Either way it an certainly stop the pill from being effective (whilst ur on the antibiotics and 7 days later) and uve had unprotected intercourse so u need a pregnancy test if ur period doesnt come!. Good luck with the lawsuit if u are pregnantWww@Answer-Health@Com

Buy a pregnancy test and find out for sure-this is a tough one-It could be late due to the antibiotics and you generally not feeling well-the safest thing is to find out quickly and for sure-From a nurse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would bank on Pregnancy hun!.

Go buy a test!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Antibiotics do not affect your period cycle; they do, however, cause the birth control pill to be less effective for that cycle and possibly even the month after!. At this point, wait another week and then take a pregnancy test!. It is OK right now to keep taking the pill!. Many women take the pill for a whole month before realizing they are pregnant, so it's not going to affect a developing baby too much during the next week while you wait!.

So, wait a week and take a pregnancy test!. Keep taking the pill until you have a test result!. If it's negative, take it again in another week (7 days later)!. If it's positive, stop taking the pill immediately and call your gyne for a prenatal appointment!.

For future reference, when taking the pill, if you start taking an antibiotic, also use a backup method of contraception for the next full cycle of pills!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
