Question: Have you ever had abnormal cells after a pap!?
I am being called back for a follow up with mine and the nurse said she couldn't find my chart but abnormal cells are common!. Before I go again tonight could any tell me if they have had this!? What was the treatment!? How serious was/is it!? Did it go away!? How long ago did you have that and have they come back or changed!?
Any info or experiences would help!

Well It could mean different things!. If you had sex before you pap that could cause an abnormal pap or something wrong could be down there!. I had an abnormal pap and it terrified me!. Mine was HPV!. I had to go for a biannual pap for two years!. It should clear up on its own if its that or Dysplasmia!. If you live a clean life!. No drugs or alcohol or even smoking!. The first time I had abnormal cells show up on a pap, they did a second pap on my return visit!. Unfortunately that one also came back abnormal, so they did a biopsy!. The doctor said to take four Advil before I came in, but that didn't exactly work real well--it was incredibly painful!. It came back as a mild dysplasia, which the doctor froze off at my next visit!. Again he told me to take four Advil, so I was scared half to death!. But it wasn't bad--just a little cramping (not even as bad as during the monthly) during the procedure, but none afterward!. A few years later I had a pap come back weird, so the doctor used some sort of magnifying tool to look at my cervix (colopscopy)!. He said he could see where the old growth was frozen off, but other than that there wasn't anything--which was a huge relief!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I had abnormal cells after a pap about 5 yrs ago!. I had to go to the office and they froze them off!. It was kind of painful but not something i couldn't tolerate!. I had some bad cramping after wards so if they treat you in the office have someone that can drive you home!. After the treatment all my paps have been normal and never came back!.

hey, I don't know if it helps, but I know two women, one of them being an aunt of mine, who were called back after abnormal pap smears and neither of them needed any treatment!. My aunt does have a small amount of fibroids, small benign growth things in the uterus, but the docs say they're really common and harmless!.
Bear in mind that a huge amount of abnormal pap smears are caused by various things not related to cancer!.

yes, mine came back abnormal several years back!. i was fine , but it was due to dryness!. i went into early menopause , and that was the cause of the dryness!. my second came back normal , they made sure on the 2nd one that they got a good !.!.!. swipe !.!.!. and plenty of cells!. ever since , they just make sure all of the !.!.paps!.!. get plenty of cells!. i was afraid of cervical cancer , but they reassured me when they said it was not very common in women with fewer than 3-5 sexual partners!. more than that can cause HPV and that can lead to cervical cancer!. good luck and i will say a prayer for you!. Yes, I did for quite some time!. Then I was declared good to go!.!.!.and 11 months had full blown cervical cancer!. I ended up pregnant and then had the radical hysterectomy when my baby girl was 5 weeks old!.

Yes, abnormal cells can mean a variety of different things!. My story was a bittersweet one, I was diagnosed with cancer, however it was caught at a stage in which through surgery and treatment I was cured!. Good luck Sky!

Yea!. I have!.!.!.!.but when I had to go back for a follow up, it turned out to be nothing!. If you had sex a day or 2 before you went to the Dr!. that can cause the abnormal cells!.

Yes had abnormal cells, had to have laser treatment as at stage 2!. I was awake when they did it!. Still have follow ups but had all clear now for last 10yrs!.Dont be scared just make sure you go when you should and practice safe sex!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
My mom had abnormal cells!. She had to have her Uterus took out!. It was precancer cells, I think she had HPV!. She was 45!. Try not to worry about this!. Many times it turns out to be nothing!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
