Will this affect me in the future?!

Question: Will this affect me in the future!?
Right now, because of school(I live 45 minutes away from the school I go to) I only get about 5-6 hours of sleep!. I'm very tired at school but I somehow get energy and wake up!.

On the weekend however, I usually get about 9-10 hours to try to make up for the sleep lost!.

Is this okay!? will this affect me negatively in the future!? I mean!.!.!.I really dont have a choice unless i rush every morning!.

My typical sleep schedule: bed:10:30am wake up: 5-5:30 am

thanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

well actually the first answerer is correct, you cannot 'make up' for sleep lost!.!. It's all a mind trick! But 5-6 hours won't hurt you!.!. My dad (retired doctor) told me that your body really only needs more than 7 hours of sleep when you're under the age of 12!.!. You'll be fine!.!. =]
If you think you're not getting enough sleep, try to fall asleep earlier and you'll be set! lol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you don't really need to sleep 9 or 10 hours to make up the sleep because you really cant "make up" sleep!. Just try to get at least 7 hours every day!. I have the same schedule and I sometimes don't make it to bed until 11 or so!. But I get up early on weekends too that way it doesn't throw my sleep pattern off otherwise if I get too much sleep on the weekends, then it throws it off come Monday morning and I feel tired and lethargic!. There is no way to "catch up on sleep"!. I did the same thing in school, because I worked 2 jobs and had a full class load!. The only thing you can do is try to nap at some point, maybe after you get home, and still try to go to bed early!. There are also yoga poses that are suppose to make you feel as though you have slept, even if you haven't!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not a hugely long term affect, but your sleep cycles now will makes you really crabby eventually!. I followed that for my freshman year, and when you overcompensate on the weekends, you end up sleeping late Saturday, going to bed late, sleeping late again Sunday, and not being able to fall asleep Sunday night in order to get up early Monday!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Unfortunately sleep deprivation is cumulative!. It causes your body to age faster and can eventually cause depression and mood swings!. Of course it's not okay, if you're trying to pass tests a tired mind never does as well as an alert one!.

If you have no choice then well, I feel for you!. If you do, then get to bed earlier!.!.!. Also I totally agree with Sarah S!. caffeine and sugar make things MUCH worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I live 2 hours away from work which is 8 to 5, and you probably have school 9 to 3!. Surely you have homework, but try getting some help from mom or cutting out computer games, chores, phone chats etc from daily routine!. sleep is very important!. also get some fresh air and exercise daily - you'll feel like you had 2 more hours of sleep!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It has been found that a body can't "catch up" on sleep!.
You get it when you need it, or you don't!.
I would recommend that you develop some time management skills so that you can get to bed earlier and still get up in time for school so you don't have to rush!.
Good habits follow you your whole life!. Start now!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't get much sleep either during the week!. I wouldn't say it is totally harmful, but long term not such a good idea!. Sleep is important for your body to replenish yourself and your brain to balance out your chemicals!. Over time, you could probably see a difference in mood!. You might get bags under your eyes, develop stress, get sick more easily, etc!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

welcome to life!. i graduated a few years ago and that was my schedule!. if you avoid caffeine's and such you might not feel so tired!. keep drinking water and youll feel a little better during the day!. if there is a way to live closer to school i recommend it!. you are wearing yourself out driving!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go to bed earlier or move closer to school, with the price of gas it might be cheaper to rent a room in the town that you go to school inWww@Answer-Health@Com

I totally sleep around like 12 or 1 and get up at like 6:30 so I'm in the same condition as you I guess lol!. I would sleep during that long car ride if I were you!. I only get 10 minutes!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your body requires you to have eight (8) hours of sleep every night!. Not getting enough sleep can effect your body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Scientists have recently begun speculating on the co-relation between lack of sleep and cancer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think its fine!. Not that bad!.!.!. But maybe its better to sleep at least 7 hours:) Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It shouldn't!. It was said that John D!. Rockefeller slept only two hours a day!. It didn't hurt him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

http://www!.sciam!.com/article!.cfm!?id=fact!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

don't do that!.!.!. it isn't "making up for it"

trust me!. after 24 hours, your body resets!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well let me know cuz im in the same boatWww@Answer-Health@Com

I do not believe that it will effect you in the future!. I think it is going to have a negative effect on you now!. You will probably perform poorly in class, put yourself at risk for falling asleep during your commute, and generally have poor stamina for life!. I suggest going to bed earlier every night, or moving closer to your school!. Your body has a circadian rhythm that is going to be thrown off from your current habits!. You have a pineal gland in your brain behind your eyes that is sensitive to light!. It will secrete melatonin which will help you to feel tired and stay asleep!. It will know what time you ordinarily go to bed and work properly with good sleep habits!. Your sleep habits will throw off the whole system!. Your body does not make up for lost sleep on weekends the way you may hope!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Americans have more sleep problems than any other first world country!. We have insane work schedules!. I don't believe you ever make up for lost sleep!. Best to try to sleep by ten PM every night even if it's only for six hours!. College students often find that getting up to study at 4:00 AM is very productive and can even be combined with exercise!. If you can do that and eat your biggest meal in the early morning, I think you'll find fewer hours of sleep more tolerable than if you sleep from three AM to just moments before your class and skip both the breakfast and the exercise!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
